Honesty

"What? Are you serious? You never seemed the type."

I study Sai's face curiously, I can't believe he admitted this to me. Of course, I already knew from Ari but still.

"Why are you telling me this?" I hesitate. "Don't get me wrong I'm glad you trust me bro, but why?"

He shrugs. "You're my best friend man, no other reason, I didn't want you to think she was cheating on me if you ever saw her and get the wrong idea."

I sip my coffee slowly and avoid looking at Sai for a moment. The small cafe bustles around us and I think of possible angles, does he want me to? Surely not.

"Okay man. That's cool no judgement here."

There's a tense silence between us. Both of us definitely wondering the same thing.

"Uh, Ari and I talked about it." It's Sai's turn to look away now. "If she ever... approaches you... I uhm... wouldn't have a problem with it."

"I have a girlfriend bro." The amusement flowing through my voice quite evident to those all around.

"Yeah, I know man... I'm just saying y'know..." He clears his throat. "Anyway, You've been keeping up with anyone from high school?"

I participate in the idle chit chat with Sai as we hang out like actual friends, but the question gnaws at the back of my mind. Why did he tell me that? Did Ari say something? Shit, should I just tell him about Vi and I as well? Fuck it, what could go wrong?

"I appreciate you telling me about how you and Ari are a bit open bro."

"Huh? Uhm. Yeah, all good man. I thought we were done with that conversation." He chuckles awkwardly.

"I guess we have a similar taste in women then."

Sai looks at me confused.

I grin and point to myself and then back at him "Vi and I are similar, I get off when she acts like a slut and I have free reign to 'have some fun.."

His facial muscles freeze at the use of my language, he blinks in confusion "You guys are open too?"

I shrug "Yes and No. She needs my permission to do anything untoward and she's more than happy for me to explore options on the side. We fully still love each other and we'll always come back to each other but we both really enjoy the other stuff." I grin.

Sai nods slowly, quietly processing what he just heard.

"We're not that similar... I uhm..."

I shake my head and hold my hand up. I know what's hes going to say, Ari is a much bigger personality, there is no doubt in my mind who 'leads' their relationship and what role they each play. I grin at him and he scoffs back and we go back to our casual conversation on video games.
