What's next?
Homunculi
Fulfilling your orders, you wished you didn't feel as comfortable about that as you did, but Hilde said it herself, You were the Heir.
It was a dizzy walk to the bathroom, boy did those booze do some damage, still, the sobbing on the other side of the door, crashed into your senses, filling you with brotherly worry, and an insidious dread.
You placed your head on the door, pressing your ear into the timber, taking in her sound, taking her pain. "Dee... Dee... come on, unlock the door." You spoke softly, gently, neither sad nor angry just calm and understanding.
"Dee... I need to see you, please, Unlock, the door." You urged, and instead of you calling into a wailing door, the voice on the side called back.
"J-Just... Leave me be for a little while 'kay" distraught, hurt, confused, that is struck against you as a spear does a shield, it was like, the more emotional you became, the more passionate, the more persuasive you were becoming, the greater your **** grew.
"Chip, just fuck off okay, I need to be alone!" She cried.
"Well, I'm not just gonna leave you in here come on and open the DoOr..." stronger and stronger was current, whipping and writhing like an angry sea. You could do it no more, you could suffer this no longer, You wanted to tell your sister that You loved her, and NoThInG iS GoInG tO StOp ThAT!
ENVY. Our crowning jewel, the fiercest of us and root of our ambition, for when we envy those above us, we rise, we rise, until we stand above all. And so we forego the normalities, cosmically powered by the curse, we twist and bend the words into talons sharp as knives and her lodge our will between the cracks of their skulls, the wrinkles in their brains, and never again do we boil in Envy.
"Open the door, Diana."
Your voice cut through through the door, or maybe slipped down, and glided through the cracks. You felt a ****, strong and sharp stab into Your sister's mind, creating a tether, establishing the link.
"Open the door" The Command came, from your lips and carved relentlessly, so that the command may be heeded without hesitation or will.
The door swung open in moments, and Diana stood before you, she was small and looked tired, tears stained the paint on her face, and rendered her face in slashes of black.
You saw the patterns, so smooth and delicate, a place that You had never been before: Your sister's **** side.
Her hair was wet, she'd obviously been sat in the shower, and only a towel-covered her, she had stopped crying but still had watery, red eyes. She shook her head at you, taking sharp teary breaths "I can't do it anymore..." She sobbed, sniffing harshly as she tried to catch her breath "I can't be the big hard sister anymore... I-I just want to be the one that was part of a family, but it was taken, wasn't it? for me being a fake, for Mom running away, and for Dad fucking dying!" She was crying, screaming, hysterical "I DON'T WANT TO BE IN THIS FUCKING WORLD ANYMORE, I JUST WANT YOU AND MY FAMILY, I JUST WANT YOU AND MY FUCKING FAMILY!" She sobbed, moving in and clutching you tightly, tears cried right into your shirt, staining your top.
"Come on, Didi. Let's talk in here." You picked her up, carrying her carefully into the bathroom. She continued to cry, even as You placed her back into the empty bath, crouched at her side, and smiling "Hey, Dee..."
She folded her arms, refused to look at you.
"What happened to being tired, Didi? what about not needing to be tough?" You asked.
Tears streamed down her face, her strength fading "I am not trying to be tough you moron, I'm scared." She sobbed.
"Of what?" She waved you off "Diana I'm here for you no matter what, so talk to me for god's sake!" Madness had come over you, the hostile sibling rivalry.
"Oh what a great idea? Little angry Charlie always hating me because of my resemblance and high regard from dad!?"
"YOU THINK THAT'S WHAT THIS IS, THAT ISN'T WHAT THIS IS!?" You shouted, unsure of why.
"WELL, THEN WHAT THE FUCK HAS IT BEEN FOR THE PAST 16 YEARS? DID SOMETHING FLY INTO YOUR FACE WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG, DID YOU TEASE ME AND HATE ME FOR NO REASON!?" She shouted.
But you did not shout, you took a breath, and lent in, and you spoke in a low, calm tone "It was not for no reason. I was horrible to you sometimes, I'm sorry, but You have good memories from me, I don't have good memories from You? Ever since I was a kid, it was Didi this, Didi that, You bathed in it, loved it, and I was just worked and worked, well listen close, because while you might not be our mother's daughter, you were treated with a daughter's respect, love, care... even more than me." You preached, grabbing her shoulder and making her jump, her young face flushed with your closeness.
"This Homunculus thing, means nothing, the Clone thing, means nothing because You are still you, You're angry, tough-guy, hard nut Diana.." She chuckled and smiled a little "And... I love you, We all love you, and You are part of this family no matter what."
the corners of her lips kept jumping up in and out of a smile, her hand reaching up and retreating from your face several times before she grimaced "But you don't love me... not the way I love you... You think I'm this freak-"
"-I love you. The way that You do... It was so stupid of me, You know what I don't care what people say, I don't care if it's wrong... when I'm with you when I talk to you... we sync... and... I just really need you okay?"
Diana's face was that of relief, and shock, looking lost, but not in a bad way. "Y-You... You do Love me, But you don't remember-"
"I do remember, Didi... I remember us..." You whispered the cat was out of the bag.
"What?.... You? How is that possible?" She asked softly.
"It was... when you were laying your head on my lap... I felt, weird things, when I protected Rose, like this... connecting, an electric spark. Between us, I felt something in me, click with something with you... and it all came back." You smiled.
"It all came back?" She parroted, looking shocked.
"I remember when that thing inside you drove you wild when it **** you toward sex with your episodes... and how it was once directed right at me..."
She bit her lip, smiling a little.
"I remember when I fucked You... and I fucked someone else, we shared her, she shared us... I just can't remember who exactly... and I remember when you broke through a window, into a hall full of enemies, wielding... a burning sword... it's still a little blurry, but it's there plain to see."
Diana huffed, and closed her eyes, she cuddled her body, the towel shifting and loosening with her slight movements "I can't do any of this without you anymore, Charlie." She finally spoke, more collected, less hysterical "...I am not... just an artificial person." Her eyes opened and looked at you. there was a deeply unsettling feeling in the expression she gave "Do you remember our dad's journal? the Black book he always kept with him?"
"The one that was glued to him, yeah of course I do."
She chuckled a little oddly "Don't make me laugh right now, please?"
You nodded "Okay."
Her lips kept weaving in and out of her mouth, her fidgeting growing like she was uncomfortable in her own skin "I read it... all the way through, it told me, How I was created... how all Homunculi are created."
You said nothing, the pain on her face... it didn't look like it was a good revelation, but you listened and patiently waited out her pauses as she explained.
"Dad couldn't get Mom pregnant... They tried and tried but... When a Descendant and an Upir try and have a child it's a fifty-fifty chance, a coin toss, and they weren't lucky. So... Dad swore to my Mom that he'd give her a child, no matter the cost... and that's what He did." she shifted uncomfortably, the disturbed look still on her face.
"He'd been searching and searching, but came up with nothing, hundreds of esoteric books, every magic, light and dark he could find... but you can't remake the glory of Birth, but you can emulate it.
That's when He met... her... our Mother's sister. She too was looking for a way to give birth but... they made a deal, to mutually try and find a way to create life. Months and months they looked through everything, anything they could find, until they found something, ancient tomes and research in France, from one Nicholas Flamel..."
"The Nicholas Flamel?" You asked, enamoured, but she continued still lost in the story.
"In those tomes, they found it, how to create something like a human, something unnatural: a Homunculi. it was exactly like a person, only it always had some kind of fault, or multiple. But they got started anyway, they began to create... me." She ran her fingers through her hair, eyes wide, shaking her head "Oh god... it makes me feel sick just thinking about it..."
"The creation process?" You asked.
She nodded.
"You don't have to tell me Diana-"
"-it's like all Alchemy... the Rule of Regeneration, You make a foundation, infuse it with something powerful, something personal. then you destroy it, and just as it is in ruin, you bestow it with life: a sacrifice." Her golden eyes looked at you, terror laid within them "Babies... dead babies, a dozen or so, He stole them, from... you know. that's the foundation. T-Then... his own DNA, a gallon of blood, he'd been extracting it for months, nearly killed himself..."
You stared, disgust slowly flooding over your face.
"...And for most Homunculi, you'd **** at least a dozen people, sacrifice them, use their souls that which you had torn from them, to create a single person. but Dad didn't use humans." She paused, looking off into nothing "He used Vampires... it's why I can use Blood Runes because I have Vampiric Qualities. Dead Babies Charlie, it's why my body changes, because it doesn't know which of the dozen I should be, what age I should be. It's why my body replenishes in an instant because I have 12 little souls inside me, that burn so powerfully, and greatly that I might as well have the healing rate of all of them... it's why I have episodes, my hormones are wrong, they cannot be controlled, because I'm biologically flawed... I'm a false being, who's birth was built on the foundation of the innocent." Her fingers touched at her chest "I can feel them, I can feel all of them... I didn't know what it was before, but, I can feel them now."
You lent back, taking that all in...
Your father, your mother... You mother's Sister? they all did this? this horrible, monsterous thing, a violation of the natural order, all for one person? "I don't care about any of it." You whispered, hand gripping around the rim of the tub.
Diana grimaced "Dead Babie's Charlie-"
"And that is fucked up. beyond fucked up. and if dad was here now, I'd fucking tear him to pieces for doing that." You said darkly "But he did it, and You're here, maybe it isn't right, maybe it isn't normal, but You're here, and so am I."
She shook her head "How am I supposed to live with this?" She whispered.
"You don't. You live because of it... You live for those Babies... so that their sacrifice is not, in, Vein." Your sister listened, closing her eyes.
"What do you feel? are they, happy?" You asked, without entirely being sure why.
Diana chuckled as tears streamed down her cheek, nodding her head as she smiled a little "I think so yeah... like all of their voices are harmonized, pulled together by my... by my instincts."
You gave her a warm grin "Good, I'm glad, they have kept you safe... it's more than I've ever done."
Diana shifted forward, touching your face softly "That is a lie."
"Is it? funny thing is, I don't remember if that's a lie or not." You muttered with a frown "I have no idea if any of this is even real if I'm still not in a coma... I don't even know if there was any coma... I don't know who Nox was, or if we were close, I don't know what I am, some Vampire/Descendant freak. People look at me like I should know them, talk to me like I've known them for years when I've never met them in my life. it's scary, doubting if anything and everything really even exists."
She has such beautiful eyes, she always had, and this way of looking at You that said _"No matter what happens, I will always be here." _It was becoming more than you could resist. looking at her soft lips, at her cute teenage face, the one you had fantasised over as a kid for years, and here it was right in front of you.
The tension between you was incredible, her face, her eyes, her smell, everything amplified, exaggerated, and in this sense, there was nearly nothing about her that wasn't gentle, and simple and beautiful, her dark mane of black hair, streaked with white.
"You know... we are warriors now, right. If we are... a couple, then-"
"That's jumping ahead of the gun a bit isn't it?" You asked with a light smile "Who says I want to be with you?"
She scrunched up her button nose, but smirked "The way you're looking at me, promising with your eyes."
"Ehhh, knowing you, it might be wise to drum up a contract miss attorney?" You jested, touching the wet locks of her hair and brushing some of the smeered paint from her face.
"I spent my whole life following rules. I think it's fair that I get to break some with you." She teased her lips against yours, nose's poking at each other, your eyes half closed as Diana finally drew in for a long, wet, hungry kiss.
