Homeschooled by dark8264

My name is Mike Decker, and I'm a senior in high school. The only bad thing about my high school? It's a spare bedroom in my house, that my mom converted to a classroom. You see, when my twin sister Molly and I were born, my mom read all the parenting books. ALL of them. She decided that, because public schools aren't quite the best academically and private schools cost an arm and a leg, and typically try to cram in religious dogma, that she would homeschool my sister and I.

Now, I'm sure that all of you think that most people who homeschool their kids are either religious nutjobs or social outcasts who can't otherwise function in society. While I can say in my interactions with the local homeschooling association that there are people who fit in those categories, my mother is not one of them. In fact, she was a school teacher before she met our dad. She actually has a Masters degree in education, and my father is a OB/GYN. Before I go much further, yes, my parents met when my mom went for an appointment at my dad's practice. I'm sure a lot of you can imagine that appointment going all kinds of wrong, but it was a pretty standard appointment with my dad just asking my mom out afterwards. Ewww! I don't know what happened after that. Those are my parents, you sick freak!

Anyway, long story short, they met, they dated, fell in love, got married, and shortly afterwards, have two bundles of joy. Mom quit her job at the local high school so that she could stay home full time while Dad's practice took off. However, she kept her teaching certificate current, just in case she ever decided to go back to work, and decided that the two best kids to teach while she stayed home was us.

Homeschooling really isn't too bad, other than the fact that when I go to check out the only girl in my class, it's my sister. As far as dating goes, my parents told us both that, when we find someone we're interested in, they'll support us as long as we don't sneak around on them. Like I said, they're not religious nuts or social outcasts, they just wanted to set us up as well they could education wise. I'd seen a few girls I wanted to talk to, but they always looked at me odd for being homeschooled.

Anyway, one day, when I got home from hanging out with my friends, I heard my parents talking in their bedroom. Curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to eavesdrop.
