Homeroom

"Sorry kids, you're gonna be late," their mom said, pulling up in front of the school. "I could've sworn we left on time..."

"It's fine," Josh replied. "Don't worry about it."

"Alright," she said. "Have a good day!"

Josh and Melody walked into the school and to their homeroom class.

"Josh. Melody." their teacher, Mrs. Robinson, said. "You two are twenty minutes late. Do you have an explanation?"

"I... uhh..." Melody muttered, not knowing why she was late herself. Josh didn't want to spill the exact reason why they were late for obvious reasons, but luckily, Mrs. Robinson was a woman. Obviously.

"Mrs. Robinson, just mark us as on time today."

"Alright, fine," Mrs Robinson replied, annoyed. "But don't expect me to do this again."

"Heh, sure."

Josh and Melody pushed past her to sit down at their designated seats. He looked around the classroom and at all the attractive girls in his class.

There was Alex, Melody's Asian best friend. Across the room was Jessica, the girl that Josh has had a crush on for years. There was Kim, the popular girl who was kind of hot but a total bitch. And of course, his sister Melody.

He even began thinking beyond his classmates. He had full authority over any teachers and staff. Maybe he could even get Mrs. Kerr, the principal, to put in new school policies. That brought him to another question- it was clear that everyone saw his power as true authority, overriding anything else. He had a legal right to do anything, and he wouldn't be expelled or arrested for using his power. But if his mother's behavior from earlier told him anything, people would still be able to judge him for what he did. While he could manage the girls, he didn't have power over the boys. Should he try and do things in private, or sacrifice his reputation and exercise his full power? Or maybe he should just calm down for the school day, and experiment more at home until he could figure out more about how his powers worked?
