Opening the door to Luke's home he found his mother in her usual spot. Laid back in her recliner watching some late evening Soap Opera on the TV.

The skinny raven haired women turned her head to acknowledge her son. "You know the rule used to be you had to be back home when the street lights came on."

Luke just took off his school shoes. His moms voice wasn't raised yet, but, that still didn't mean he was in the clear yet. "I wasn't getting into any trouble mom. The guys wanted to hangout after practice, it's not like don't always do that."

Not the truth, but a fair fact none the less.

"Did you grab the mail this morning Luke?"

Shuddering, he didn't like where this conversation was already headed.

"Ya, why?"

Luke's mother kept her neutral tone.

"Don't play coy with me. I know, you know, what day it is today. It's the start of the Act, and the mail box was empty when I left for work this morning. Did you get your package?"

Package? That was a diplomatic word.

"Yes I got it."

"Good, then I'd like to see it."

Luke, started to sweat alittle. Wow! Maybe I dodged the bullet Michael got hit with this morning.

"You can't"

"What do you mean I can't see it!" The courtesy of Diplomacy was fading fast.

"Because its in my locker at school!"

The silence from his mother was defining as she crossed her arms and legs, frowning at Luke with irritation.

"I'm not lying! I just was in a hurry and left it at school." Luke thought fast, quickly taking his school bag off and walking up to his mom. "Here you can even check, I don't have it."

Luke's mother took the bag and placed it now the ground next to her, not even bothering to unzip it.

"Turn out your pockets."

Luke's nerves were starting to twitch as he felt his bluff being called, but, in for a penny, in for a pound. Only a moments hesitation was what Luke needed, and soon his mom was now eyeing his tuned out, white, empty pockets.

"Hmmmm...."

Luke felt the focus his mothers eye's shift to the middle point between his pockets.

Oh no! How far was she going to push this?! Luke thought, holding his breath.

"Alright.... But I want to see it tomorrow night! That understood!"

Luke let out a sign of relief.

"You got it mom."
