Chapter 30 by Artican Artican

How does holo Linda convince the person to stay?

Holo Linda does art

"This is your holodeck time, I'm sorry for interrupting it. Please stay." I pleaded sincerely.

The redhead stopped and turned to me, casting her eyes at the parts of my body I wasn't doing a good job of covering up. She was visibly uncomfortable with this, replying, "Well, I should at least step out and let you get dressed..."

I shook my head as my eyes darted around to find something to wear. I noticed a towel behind a screen and took it to wrap around my body.

"This should do," I said as I tried to think of an excuse to stay, "So... What is this place?"

"This is my studio back on Earth," she responded, "I like to do landscape paintings to unwind." She held up a canvas she was carrying to verify her claim.

"But wouldn't you get better landscapes outdoors?"

"Oh, I like it inside. This place is comfortable and familiar and reminds me of home..." The painter replied, looking wistfully at the room and the tools. She perked up and said, "Besides, in here, I can bring the landscapes to me! Computer: change backdrop to Grand Canyon."

In a flash, the forest and stream outside the room became the gaping chasm of the Grand Canyon. I squinted from the glare and nodded in appreciation, but something else bugged me, "So, how would you do landscapes back on Earth?"

The redhead gave a musical laugh, "Oh, I would go on location to do my paintings, this studio was more my husband's. He did figure paintings, you know with live models." She gestured to the screen where I found my towel, which was apparently the undressing area for the nude models.

I glanced over and then back at the painter. She was mature yet still visibly in good shape. The frock didn't reveal much of the body but based on her attractive face, she could have been a model.

"Did you ever...?" I nodded to the changing screen.

She made another light chuckle, "Oh yes, that's how we met actually. One time, he asked me to stay behind after a session and Modelled for him privately... One thing led to another and..." She gave a demure smile as she reminisced. She didn't need to explain further.

"So, have you ever painted figures?" I asked after a moment of silence.

"Harry taught me. It's what I started off doing before finding landscapes to be more my speed. I would always feel guilty for having the models hold their positions for so long so I would tend to rush. With landscapes I can take as long as I want."

I smiled with a solution to my problem coming together. "Say, I have time. Why don't I be your model and you can take as long as you want with me?"

"Oh my, it's been a while since I've done figures," the painter said, not quite saying no.

"Come on, it's good to get back into the practice. Put some of your husband's training to good use!"

She became a little misty eyed, "He would have been delighted to see me start up figures again." This seemed to set her decision because she gave me a confident nod. "Alright. I'll do it. That is... If you're ok with it. Modeling can be boring and cramp your muscles."

"I would be happy to do it! Just tell me what to do. Oh, I'm Linda by the way."

"Call me Gwen."

How does the modeling session go?
