Holly Freaks

Holly blushes. She is a bit homophobic. “Theresa, I’m not into whatever this is. I need to go.”

As Holly exits the bar her lip throbs and she feels strange. She worries that whatever spell Theresa cast is affecting her. She hops into the car and decides she needs to see Theresa’s Gram.

Her throat is parched by the time she reaches Gran’s house. She knocks, praying Gram is home.

The door creaks open. A white haired, fit, septuagenarian answers the door.

“Holly, how are you!”

“Theresa cast a spell and I dunno if it worked but she’s behaving all weird and I don’t know what to do and I think she bit me...”

“Holly, slow down and tell me what happened.”

Holly takes a deep breath. “I went over to Theresa’s. Apparently, she was in the basement casting a spell. Then we went out for a drink. She seemed super aggressive. Then she ordered me to kiss her. It was suddenly like I had too. She bit my lip while we were kissing...”

“Holly, let me see the bite.”

Holly opens her mouth.

“Shit, Theresa, what have you gone and done .” Whispers Grams.

“What is it?”

“Theresa cast some kind of spell. It’s a mix of blood magic, and nature magic, with part of a curse.”

“Curse?”

“Yes, if we don’t stop it, you’ll eventually be cursed.”

“How...how...do we stop it?”

“Well, for now wear this.” Grams hands Holly a crystal on a leather strap. “The good news is the spell will simply wear off. The bad news is if Theresa spills blood it will extend the spell.”

Holly slides the necklace around her neck. It makes her feel weak and confused.

“The other crucial thing is we mustn’t let her kill anyone.”

“Why?”

“Along with their blood, she’ll absorb all the evil within them.”

“Theresa would never hurt anyone, let alone kill them.”

“I hope you’re right. But, we should try to find her...”
