What's her job?
Holistic Boutique
Paulette worked at the Ostara Holistic Boutique.
Her boss, Mrs. Brodeur, immigrated to the Americas from the French Riviera and started a shop in town with her son Fayette. She had all the looks of an aging hippie lady and she acted like it sometimes, her thick French accent giving her the look and feel of an old gypsy woman. She would even read people's fortune.
Her son Fayette was only a year younger than Paulette's youngest sister Claire, though considering he wasn't a baby, you couldn't tell. He typically wore skinny jeans and a bright-red shirt.
Paulette was raised non-denominationally Christian with a strong Columbian-Catholic Heritage, so while her family didn't mind that she worked for what they called a "witch mart", they weren't 100% okay with it either. Her grandmother would tell her that her Abuela told people's fortunes using a turtle-shell and a matchbook, so she was pretty receptive to it.
Paulette's job was mostly to man the counter and take calls, though they were usually requests for an over-the-phone tarot reading and she would pass it off to Mrs. Brodeur. Sure they didn't make as much as the Botanica across town, but that's probably because they weren't crammed with wall-to-wall Santa Muerte figurines. They still kept themselves afloat selling tarot decks, crystal obelisks, Wiccan manuels and the occasional siesta with the High School's Religious Tolerance Club.
