Chapter 12 by Wikia Wikia

What happens next?

His mom drops him off at the Downtown Theater.

After a quick change, his mom escorted him to the car and drove him to the movie theater.

The Blanc Downtown Theater was the only movie theater in town, located in the old downtown across the street from City Hall. It was one of those old movie theaters that could only show one movie at a time due to limited space, and even then half the time they would normally be reserved for localized events and theater productions.

With that said, the theater had made a few agreements with the local college's film club that Jim neither knew, nor cared enough to look into, where every other Friday they would allow free admissions to a movie for anyone with a school I.D. Something that Jim just so happened to have.

"Alright honey. You all packed?"

"Yup."

"And if anything happens, you call me right away, okay?"

"Yes, mom."

"I left you some money so that you can pay for snacks. A gentleman always pays for snacks."

"Okay, mom."

His mom pulled him into a hug.

"Are you sure you don't want me to chaperone? I'm sure she won't mind."

"Mom!"

"Okay, okay honey. I'm a mom. I'm supposed to worry about leaving my baby alone somewhere. But you won't be alone, you'll be with your date! Your first date! This is so exciting!"

Jim was dressed in a turtle-neck sweater, its knitting a series of horizontal strips in various pastel colors, a pair of tennis shoes, a small backpack packed with the essentials and a pair of loose-fitting jeans that left plenty of room for his diaper. While the bright colors would look weird for a boy his age anywhere else in the US, they were the most mature clothes Jim had aside from some formal wear reserved for out-of-town affairs like weddings and funerals. He wanted to look his best for his date.

Speaking of, Marie just so happened to be there waiting over by the entrance of the theater. She wore a purple one-piece dress, the skirt reaching just at her knees which were in a pair of white pantyhose and black dress-shoes. She had a large, matching-purple bow in her curly hair that she obviously put a lot of effort in to.

He thought she looked really cute. "Cute" as in what a boy would describe a girl he had a crush on, though no doubt her parents intended it to be the other definition.

"Hey Jim. I'm glad you could make it."

"Y-yeah! You too."

In Jim's backpack he had various little things one would need for any situation. A part of him felt like he needed two of them. The first was a binky, as it would make an excellent tool to keep him from saying something stupid in front of her. The other is a spare, emergency diaper in the event that his nervous bladder would necessitate a trip to the theater's changing room.

"You excited?" She asked.

"Yeah! Really excited!"

She led him by the hand to the box office, Jim only then noticing that she was actually standing in line for the two of them when he came, and asked for two tickets. They both showed the man their IDs and he printed out two tickets for them.

What are they seeing?
