His decision is made for him by a sudden battle between two familiar groups

There is a sudden crashing outside the library. I look out the window to see none other than the X-Men in a fight with the Juggernaut from the looks of things. And it is obvious the team is struggling to bring the titan down.

Whether it was Cyclops blasts or chaotic weather from Storm, Juggernaut wasn't phased in the least as he kept trying to thrash the X-Men. It was only a matter of time before someone, other than Wolverine who could take the hits, got gruesomely squashed by the unstoppable brute. It looked like they could use a hero of their own.

Or me.

Taking this as a sign of what I need to do, I rush out of the library. As I hit the street, the battle seems all the more real as it's right in front of me. A jolt of fear goes through me as I rethink my decision. Before I can pull back though, I see Rogue is on the ground and Juggernaut has his hand up ready to smash her.

I throw a hand upon his direction, trying to use my new null power. Almost immediately Marko goes to one knee, trying to hold himself up. His outfit seems to be weighing him down as he can barely hold himself up.

"What the hell-" Juggernaut exclaims before Wolverine dashes in and clocks him in the face. The usually unstoppable villain goes out like a light, momentum sending him backwards.

The X-Men seem shocked at what transpired, unsure what happened to weaken Juggernaut. That is until Jean Grey notices me with my hand still raised like an idiot and points me out. Nervous with the attention suddenly on me, I lower my arm and awkwardly wave at them.

They walk over, observing me warily but not with hostility. "Were you the one that weakened Juggernaut? How exactly did you do that?" Cyclops asks first.

"Er, I have nullification powers. When it comes to powers and energy, if I will it then they will shut off or disappear. I haven't really used them much as I only really figured them out by shutting off power in my house and this was the first time I tried using them on a villains powers." I rambled out.

They seemed generally shocked at the description of my powers, though Rogue looked the slightest bit hopeful. "Where did your powers come from? Are you a mutant as well?" Nightcrawler asked curiously.

I shrug my shoulders. "I don't know. I kinda just discovered my powers one day when I got irritated and nulled the power in my house by accident. Not sure where they came from." I fib to the superhero team.

"If he is a mutant, wouldn't the Professor have found him and met him? The power to nullify powers seems like a powerful enough ability to be noticed by Cerebro." Cyclops questions confusedly.

"Perhaps the young man's own powers is why he wasn't found? The power to nullify could make him a blindspot to Cerebro." Storm proposes thoughtfully.

"Well we ain't gonna figure it out just standing here and talking about it. Let's bring him back to the Mansion and have Chuck and Hank figure it out." Wolverine says decisively.

"That is if he is interested in coming with us. We can't just grab someone off the street because they interest us." Storm argues before turning to me with a kind smile. "So Mr...I apologise, it appears we have yet to even ask your name."

"John Jones ma'am. But you can just call me John." I say respectfully, keeping my eyes from straying off her face. 'God, she is even more beautiful in person. No wonder she was mistaken for a goddess. It was no freaking mistake.'

"It is good to meet you John. My name is Ororo Munroe, but my codename is Storm. Feel free to use whichever you're comfortable with." She says kindly. "So John, would you like to come with us to figure out if you are indeed a mutant?"

I shrug indifferently. "Well, I was just at the library to find something to read, but I guess this is more important. Why not?" I say casually, while I inwardly cheer at my luck.

Mind Stone, here I come.
