High Elves vs. Orcs

Alice had to explain how the arena was created from Dwarves technology, allowing it to morph into various different kinds of terrains. Everyone watched as the high elves fought the orcs. The high elves decided to wait for the orcs to come to them.

Once the orcs reached the elf half of the field, Armotar had two other elves, one male and one female, fire arrows at the orcs. The female archer hit an orc, killing him. Despite this, Durzum managed to get close enough to Armotar.

He was about to strike him down with his sword when suddenly he just froze. Fred noticed this.

"What is he doing?" Fred asked.

"This always seems to happen to the high elf team's opponents" said Alice.

"They just suddenly freeze for no reason?"

Armotar drove his dagger into Durzum's neck. Two other orcs similarly froze, allowing elves to kill them. The last remaining orc attempted to flee.

"Whereis he gonna go?" asked Fred,

"He's trying to escape the arena"

"They can do that?"

"Not without being disqualified but it does mean the elves won't be allowed to kill them"

The male archer shot the orc in the back, killing him. The strange thing was that the arrow curved its way towards the orc.

"Those people are who we're taking on first we beat the cat girls" said Fred, "how do we beat someone who can make you stop moving?"

"I don't know. Its how they've won the past ten tournaments" said Alice, "its not actually illegal but the high elves don't want people to know its how they always win though its pretty much an open secret"

After the match, Fred and co headed to an inn. There they happened upon Nightwood and her the wood elf team. One of them had a bow out.

"I sense demonic energy from within" said Nightwood.

"Well, thats because I'm an incubus" said Fred.

"Really? You don't act like any incubus I know"

"Well, I turned this book I found in Marcus' library to turn myself into one"

"You have any idea how stupid that is? You could have been turned an unholy abomination. You could still turn into one. Its not natural. Gaia will destroy the planet if your kind are not kept in check"

Fred had studied up on Gaia. She was another of gods that people on Arizelle believed in. She also had another name Terra. From what Fred could tell she was a psychopath who killed people for stupid things like cutting down trees.

It reminded him of those Studio Ghibli where giant monsters try to wipe out humanity because someone cut a tree and yet are supposed to be the 'good' guys in it. He did think Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle were good.

The wood elves worshipped her and lived in the forests as homeless bums who killed anyone who broke even as much as a twig. They had also occasionally allied with the Order of Saint Joan to hunt demons, though the order tended to use them as meat shields.

Fred wasn't too worried about them. Apparently, the wood elves had been defeated in the first round of every tournament they ever entered.

"Why did you people enter the tournament anyway?" asked Fred.

"To prove the superiority of nature"

"How does elves winning a combat tournament prove nature is superior?"

"Its not my job to educate you" said Nightwood, evading the question.

"Oh, you one of those"

"You just need to partake in the essence of Gaia" said Nightwood, holding out a white substance that made Fred weary.

"I'll pass"
