Chapter 13

Do the Hideki scientists visit, or does your girlfriend have other plans?
Hideki Labs gets involved
You crossed your arms as you sat in an uncomfortable chair in the observation room, next to Emilia. The whole setup reminded you of those operating rooms from horror movies where people could watch an alien's dissection or something gross, before the monster always, always decided to wreak havoc instead.
Of course, in this case, the 'monster' was your girlfriend. And to you, she wasn't very dangerous or scary, although she seemed to be more willing than normal to take her strange thoughts all the way to their logical conclusion, since now she had the power to do so. The ghostly abilities she retained only took her so far--now, with control of the distortion gel, it seemed like she'd taken on new powers, and she knew it. What else in Emilia's mansion might she steal for her own enjoyment, and would she gain new abilities in the process?
None of that really bothered you, though. Nor did the fact that you now realized the mirror you were looking at in the exam room was a one-way mirror and someone could have been watching everything you'd done, or everything Jane did to you, all the while. What really wound you up is that your girlfriend, always the center of attention, managed to find herself pulling all eyes toward her once more. You were sitting her in this impossibly beautiful form, even after Jane sucked away probably a good third of your mass, and few seemed to find that very interesting at all.
Well, for the most part. One of the younger doctors to join the Hideki group, Dr. Ela Lockard, sat with you and Emilia to discuss the state of Jane's body and describe the experiments, or ask questions. Ela looked at you in ways that somehow felt like she was seeing right through you--like she could see that Jan was contained inside, her body and yours smashed together like silly putty. It was impossible to tell on the outside what Jane had done to you had it not been observed first-hand, but Ela seemed to know more than she let on...
You eventually turned to Emilia. "You're not even mad that she went and took more of your stuff for her little ghostly joyride?"
"I'm never mad when I see new possibilities open up before me," Emilia said, turning to you. "Why, precisely, do you think I brought you and Jane into my mansion, John? Because of some genetic or biological compatibility with the machine? Because of your vast knowledge of the astral plane?"
"There's actually seven of what you might call 'astral' planes," Ela offered cheerily. She was promptly ignored by Emilia, but you still gave her a strange look all the same.
"I brought you in because Jane doesn't follow rules. I and my staff are bound by rules and limitations we set in place in an official capacity. I adhere to these strict rules and methods so I don't ruffle any feathers with the government or other companies who would love to take all the things in my collection for their own study. Do you know what they would do to them? Tear them apart and break them, searching for traces of the supernatural energies contained within, only to likely ruin them in the process of understanding a fraction of an artifact's potential."
Emilia leaned closer toward the glass, as she watched Dr. Chloe Walker and Dr. Zoe Hildebrand probe at the blue gel-woman, with Yvette's help. "You're a rule-follower too. And I like that about you, honest. You don't want to disrupt norms and you care about the feelings of others. The woman in your head could surely attest to that, yes?"
You nodded, slowly.
"Your fiancée, though. She is not bound to rules the same way I am. Of course, once this is over, I will have to write up new rules and guidelines about how the Ghost Machine is to be used, and what sort of limitations future users should consider if they are to continue in my experiments. But these pockets of uncertainty and chaos, where the rules have yet to be written, are where I learn far more than in a controlled environment."
You frowned, looking between the two in the room. "That sounds like you're okay with if she does something unethical like stealing a person's body so she can do whatever she wants, regardless of what the host is okay with. That's unethical to let her be immoral like that, right? Dr. Lockard, Hideki Labs would consider that unethical in your research?"
Ela tried to maintain a straight face, but it was clear you caught her off-guard. "Uhh... I can neither confirm nor deny sensitive details about the experimental nature at Hideki Labs without the director's authorization."
You sighed, slumping in your seat. "Well, at least she left me and Jan with a nice body..."
Emilia just smiled, not responding, fully focused on Jane's experiments at that point. Dr. Walker, apparently, had just instructed Jane to take over Yvette's body with the distortion gel. Yvette hadn't volunteered for such a thing, but Jane happily complied, her gel-like body leaping at Yvette, losing form as she slid down Yvette's throat and into her body. While the physician struggled and thrashed about, she couldn't seem to stop the intrusion, as her body seemed to grow in size to accomodate the increased mass provided by the gel entering her body. Against her will, Yvette was removing her clothing, so the gel inside her could expand more naturally into her hourglass shape, but also so Yvette's hands could be made to roam over her body, touching herself in delight. Dr. Hildebrand remained in the room to monitor Yvette's condition, while Dr. Walker left the exam room, and entered the observation area.
"You should have called us way sooner," Dr. Walker said as she approached Emilia. "That stuff is truly volatile and unstable, might even be its own living substance which is why one of your ghost of a lab rat could maneuver it like this at all. You've had it for decades and you're just now sharing it with you?"
Emilia frowned. "My father sent samples to Hideki Labs back when it was operating out of that run-down warehouse, the one where the sign letters kept falling off and everyone thought it was Hi-eki Labs. Before your time, I'm sure, but certainly your predecessors left you plenty of notes?"
"Notes, with pages redacted. I'm guessing anything related to the King estate was stricken from the record, so we couldn't follow up. This could have accelerated years of research..!" A frustrated Dr. Walker tossed her lab coat onto a chair in a huff, and Dr. Lockard hurried to her, putting a hand on her shoulder.
Dr. Lockard turned to you and Emilia, trying to make amends with a bit of a nervous smile. "Sorry, we've just been working through a few hiccups in some of our latest work on bio-elastomers. We'd really appreciate it if we could get more samples."
Emilia put her hands in her lap, turning her attention back to the sexy movements Yvette was **** to make. She was bouncing her ass up and down as she leaned on the exam table, in full view of Dr. Hildebrand and the observation room. Dr. Hildebrand, for her part, seemed to find it all endlessly amusing, not bothering to try and stop Yvette's body from doing embarrassing things in front of an audience.
"If you want samples of a rare substance which exists nowhere else but this mansion, then I'll need some Hideki expertise to assist me with some future projects I have in mind. Alternately, I could simply pursue purchasing a stake in Hideki Labs again--I wouldn't mind my distortion gel being researched in my laboratory, after all. I'm sure Director Brooks will be more amenable to that arrangement if you spoke with him on my behalf, Dr. Walker. Or, I could simply see if Shaw Sciences is more within my budget..."
Dr. Walker stewed a little, glaring at Emilia trying to do shrewd business dealings for a project she seemed to feel quite personally attached to. You didn't bother asking any questions, it wasn't your place.
Suddenly, Yvette was pressed up against the window of the examination room, causing everyone to leap at the suddenness of her presence when they had been so focused elsewhere. It was like a far sexier scene from that alien movie you were recalling. "Hey look, John! I'm a blue goo that can take over bodies!" Yvette spoke giddily, pressing her enhanced breasts against the cold one-way mirror. "I bet these scientist chicks have never seen anything like this before!"
Dr. Walker remained perfectly silent at Jane's remarks, before turning back to Emilia. "We'll be in touch. From what I know about your slime girl, she's happy and healthy and appears to be stable. Don't let her contaminate herself with newt's blood or whatever other potion ingredients you witches keep around your elaborate mansions before we can bring in some more equipment to get a better read on her molecular structure."
With that, the doctors were gone, leaving you, Emilia, and a sexed up Yvette controlled by Jane to yourselves.
"I'd like her to stay here for observation, I suspect it will just be for the night. Chloe will not wait long before returning for further experiments." Emilia turns to you, fishing something out of a nearby bag. "As for you and Jan, you're free to stay as well if you wish, but you might want to take a day to acclimate to your current self. I'm sorry to say that I can't just let Jane restore you at this point to your former size, and thus you'll be unable to be anything but the lovely woman you've become for the foreseeable future. But, I think you two could use a little break from the excitement, yes?"
Emilia held out what appeared to be a credit card to you. "In case you do want to head out, get a nice meal, buy some nice clothes that fit your new self. Take the two of you in that singular body on a date that you'll both enjoy. Jane is in good hands here, I promise. But show Jan some much-needed attention, I think."

Ghosts From The Machine
Shenanigans from the beyond
Renowned collector of strange and mystical artifacts, Emilia King, has been working on restoring a nineteenth-century device: The Ghost Machine. Through her research, she's theorized that the machine could allow physical beings to become incorporeal. In this state, depending on the energy setting of the machine, their abilities to do various ghostly things--influence electronics, float through walls, possess the living--will vary, as will their duration in the afterlife. ...Assuming the machine works as intended and doesn't break, of course.
