Hero appears…

Crack…

I froze for a moment at the sound and quickly looked to the back…

“Ah, Mr Hero.” I started uncertainly. What was he doing here so early?

“Who are you?” He asked surprised and with suspicion.

His tone surprised me. Why was he on the edge? It was normal for maids to clean rooms. Better to apologize – just to be on the safe side.

“Forgive me for intrusion.” I said calmly and bowed my head, with hands in front of me. “I came to change the sheets and clean your room. I thought that you would be training with the knights at this time.” I paused as I stood straight. “If it’s a bad time, I shall return later?” I asked as I cocked my head.

I got, again, a better look at the man’s face. He was so… unperceptive. It was hard to believe that this… bland man was a hero. I would have thought that hero would be a giant man, or someone beautiful, with blond wavy hair...

We stood for a moment in silence.

Finally, he shook his head.

“No, it’s okay, please continue.” He said quietly… but there was something in his voice… no, it was my imagination.

“As you wish.” I bowed again and turned back to the bed...
