Her security alarm starts going off

"This can't be happening, this can't be happening, this can't be happening!" Mackenzie chanted as she continued trying to pull herself free. Just when she thought things couldn't possibly get any worse, Mackenzie heard a piercingly loud alarm.

"ALERT! ALERT! UNAUTHORIZED ENTRY DETECTED!" the automated voice called over the shrill alarm echoing throughout the house. "ALERT! ALERT! UNAUTHORIZED ENTRY DETECTED!"

"Oh for the love of..." Mackenzie muttered. As if her day couldn't have gotten any worse! Somehow her attempt at re-entering her house had set off her home security system. And she didn't have any time to even think about how it had happened, because if the alarm was going off...

Over the sound of the blaring alarm, Mackenzie distantly heard her home phone ringing. That would be the security company. Mackenzie had already missed the window of time to disable the alarm from her end, hence why it was now blaring. Now the security company would be calling to see if the alarm was genuine or a false alarm. And if she didn't pick up the phone...

"Then the security company contacts the police," Mackenzie realized, her blood suddenly running cold.

She remembered the worker who installed the system bragging that if they were ever needed, the police could arrive in under 3 minutes. What had felt like a comfort at the time, now felt like quite the imminent threat.

The phone rang for a second time. Once it rang five times, Mackenzie's answering machine would pick up the call and her encounter with the authorities would be sealed.

"Nonononono!" she panicked, thrashing about desperately and trying like mad to get free.
