Chapter 134 by CaptainPulse

Who indeed?

Her mother, or course

As soon as Hilda heard that her daughter had run off with that drow from the night before, she sprang into action to get her back. Not even bothering to put on her armor, or anything else for that matter, she sprinted away from her keep and followed the trail the two lovers had left behind them. Imagine her shock when their tracks ended at a sharp cliff leading to a river. Hilda would have fainted and fallen in herself had Hunk not rushed to catch her and bring her back inside.

For the next few days, (as soon as her husband convinced her to put her clothes on) Hilda sent scouts out to scour the area for any sign of Tina. The river only went in one direction, but neither she nor her drow companion could be spotted between the cliff where they fell and the outlet to the ocean. After nearly a week of searching, the team came back to report that nothing had been found. Hilda was inconsolable, believing her beloved daughter to be lost to her forever, and refused to come out of her chambers, unless it was to make runs to the kitchen for custard (naked, of course).

The rest of the keep wasn't faring much better. Hunk blamed himself for Tina's apparent demise and had fallen into a depressive spell. His energy spread to the rest of the keep's denizens, with even the promise of orgies unable to bring people out of their slumps. It seemed the Brandt Keep was doomed to fall into heartbreak.

That is until a letter arrived. One day, while Hilda was sulking alone in the dark, having neglected to get dressed again, an origami swan flew into Hilda's bedroom window, landed on her head, and unfolded itself. Picking her face up out of her pillow, Hilda read the letter and instantly had her energy returned to her.

To the Distinguished Lady Hilda Brandt,

This is correspondence from the Drowned Demon, the finest vessel on the six seas. I am writing to you to alert you that your daughter has been recovered and is safe on our ship. I understand that this must be a difficult time for you, but I ask you to consider my generous offer carefully. I'm asking for the exchange of 100,000 gold pieces for your daughter's return to you. This ship and its crew will be residing in the harbor off the coast of Captivia awaiting your answer. Should you not provide one within the next three days, the Drowned Demon will take to the sea, where I cannot guarantee your daughter's safety. Please decide quickly, as my time is not to be wasted. Hoping you are well.

Captain Rey Darkwing

Wasting no time, Hilda sprang up from her bed and ran to get her husband in the altogether, her stocking-clad feet slipping on the marble floors as she ran. When she reached the dining room where Hunk was sitting alone, he barely remarked on her nudity but was much more receptive to her enthusiasm. Reading over the letter, Hunk was more than prepared to dig into the family vault to get his daughter back, but Hilda wasn't about to give into pirates so easily. "I'm not buying our daughter back, especially from good-for-nothing sea bandits."

"But darling, what will we do? Do you mean we just let them have her?"

"Of course not!" Hilda cried. "I will rescue her myself. I've still got life in these old bones, and I'm sure some sea dogs will be no trouble to me with all of my equipment." Hunk just stared back at his wife, surprised. "What? Did I say something strange?" Hilda asked. She thought for a moment that he was staring at her tits, but it wasn't as though they were a rare sight in their home.

"Well, dear, perhaps it would be better for you to bring some of the guards with you. You know, for safety."

Hilda put her hands on her hips. "Are you implying that I cannot handle this on my own? I'm the greatest knight in the land. I'm sure I can handle a few pirates"

"You _were _the greatest knight darling, but things... change. You haven't fought in several years, and things have... changed." His eyes lingered on his wife's belly, which did not go unnoticed by Hilda. "At least let me go with you. She's my daughter, too."

"I'm not out of shape, Hunk. I can handle myself. And you can't put more strain on your back by putting on your armor." She held her husband's head in her hands. "I'll bring our daughter home, I promise. Don't worry." With that, Hilda spun around and started marching down the hallway toward her armory, her sizeable cheeks shaking with her gait. Hunk put his head down, unable to shake the feeling that something terrible was about to happen.

Is he right?
