Her mom finds the paper

“Honey? Can you come down here for a second?” Rose’s father called sympathetically. If Rose had messed up something, she would’ve known by the angrier tone in his voice. His soft, gentle beckoning came as a surprise, and unintentionally ended up scaring her. “Oh no... what did I do...” Rose thought, as she sulked downstairs. Her parents were calmly seated at the dining room table, her mother’s hands wrapped around a crumpled piece of paper. Rose recognized the document by its yellow tint, and winced.

“Honey? What is this?” Her mother asked, feigning curiosity.

“...It’s my treatment plan” Rose stated plainly. She stared down at the floor shamefully.

“Honey, why didn’t you tell us about this?” Her father asked seriously. He seemed genuinely curious, eager to know the answer.

Rose sighed. “...I didn’t want you to make a big deal out of it. The treatment isn’t gonna work anyways. I know as well as you do there’s no way for me to do it, considering what I’d be wearing.”

Her parents looked to each other briefly, before turning back to Rose.
