Chapter 5

Who gets to the bedroom first?

Her father, Bartholomew

It was her father.

Henry's men had woken in the early hours and gone on a stealthy murdering spree. This was until they killed the guards in the gatehouse and opened the main gates to let in a waiting **** of reinforcements.

Then the true rampage began.

Henry and his bodyguard had already secured the ground-floor of the keep and stopped the baron's men coming down and closing the lifting the drawbridge. Once the reinforcements had arrived, they began fighting their way up the stairs.

The Baron's men initially blockaded the entrance into the upper floors of the keep with upturned furniture, keeping the prince's men on the ground floor. However, the Baron knew that the fact the attackers had crossed the inner drawbridge and secured the central gatehouse, meant as far as any real defenses, all was lost.

It was only a miracle that could save them.

Bartholomew knew his life was in severe jeopardy, but it was his family he feared for.

The only thing left for Bartholomew was to try and save his family. Matilda, his wife, was too sick to flee. But his children were young, and fleet footed. Given a chance, they could escape.

There are two options. Conditional surrender on the terms that Bartholomew handed himself and his men over, but that his family goes free without prejudice. Or, fight to the end.

1) Fight to the end

2) Propose Conditional Surrender.
