Her Mother Noticed Her Fall.

Emily held the emerald necklace in her hands, its golden chain dangling and shining in the bright sunlight. She stared into the gem almost hypnotized by it's glimmering deep green color.

*what kind of person would lose something so beautiful?* she thought to herself.

Suddenly her nearly trance like state was broken as someone behind her put a hand on her shoulder

"Wow! What have you got there, sweety?"

Emily turned around to see her smiling mother, gazing at the necklace similarly to how she just was.

"I'm not sure, but it sure does seem expensive." Emily turned around toward her mother giving her a better view of her rare find.

Nicole nodded her head in agreement. "Yeah, it looks like you've had quite the stroke of luck. It just so happens, I was about to head up to the hotel and check our luggage in, and get a quick glimpse of the room. Wanna join me? You can leave your new jewelry there for safe keeping."

Emily fidgeted in the knee deep water they were both standing in. She was looking forward to swimming and didn't really want to leave the beach minutes after getting there. Her mother, Nicole, noticed her hesitation.

"I can take the necklace with me if you would rather keep swimming. I understand, there are quite a few cute boys around here." Nicole winked playfully.
