Help turns to a purchase

“He’s just so much more than all of that and your right but I can’t help it. Every time he asks the surprise of it just causes me such anxiety. I don’t know I just don’t feel like I’m ready to be a wife and definitely not ready for kids. That’s another sticking point I think. He wants to have a baby but being honest, I’m not sure I’ll ever want kids.” Tori sighed heavily thinking of the night before last and that discussion. “I told Tyrone this morning that I’m off the pill. I’ve been keeping track of my cycle and we’re going up to the cabin next week. He doesn’t know it yet but I’ll be coming home pregnant. I’ve figured out the best days and it’ll be during the trip.” Tiana smiled at the idea. “I’m happy for you both Tiana but I’m not sure how to talk to Wade about the whole issue.” Tori wished she could tell Tiana everything but knew she wouldn’t understand.

Wade and Tyrone walked out of the gym and over to the coffee shop. Tyrone grabbed a table while Wade placed the orders. Tyrone was watching his friend closely wondering how to talk to him about everything. He wanted to tell Wade that his wife wanted a baby thinking it would save the marriage but he didn’t think it’d help. He knew Tiana and Wade had become very good friends over the last 12 years. He wanted to give Wade some warning but wasn’t sure he could even describe the problems they had been having. “Here’s your latte bro.” Wade sat down with a smile at the startled look on his friends face. “Wade, I’m not sure how I can say this but things haven’t been good lately with Tiana. We’ve been fighting more than ever about everything. To be honest, I’m hoping the trip will help us heal the rift. Between fighting over the finances and just every day little things it feels like we just aren’t working out.” Tyrone wondered how to tell Wade the rest.

“Man bro, you two were made for each other. You guys will get through this but if there’s anything I can do to help, just say the word.” Wade sighed and hoped they could make it since he didn’t want to see either of his friends get hurt. “Actually, there is something you could help me with. The company I was working for laid me off three weeks ago. They’re restructuring and seems I didn’t have enough seniority. You’re an architect, do you know of any companies looking for experienced steel workers?” Tyrone had hoped not to have to ask but being out of work for the last few weeks had seriously stretched his finances. “I know a few. I’ll make some calls for you. Meanwhile, take this bro. it’s a gift that should help ease things some.” Wade quickly wrote a check for $50,000 and handed it to him.
