Help meet a quota

Being an admissions officer should have sucked. Students thought that you were all powerful and worthy of respect, all the way up until they got in. The professors, sponsors, students and seemingly everyone only ever came to you to ask for something. Higher ups asked for more from you each year.

You loved the power though. You'd had people beg you on their knees. You could make people do wild things if you wanted to, and you did want to, now that you had a reason. You were one metric away from getting a bonus, and hopefully a raise. A way to make it all a little more worthwhile. You needed to find a transgender student to accept. If you couldn't, you'd make a transgender student to accept.

"The university believes that the more perspectives a student can consider, and the more a student can relate to those around them, the better developed that student will become." You could see the student trying to think where you could be going with this, and coming up short. How could he expect what you were going to say? It was a wonderful sight to you. You continued. "Which is why we offer grants to students who have recently experienced a form of adversity. No such adversity was mentioned anywhere in your essay, nor in interviews. I have the opportunity to offer this grant, of $15,000 a year on top of all other scholarships and grants, to one more student. I think you might be a qualifying candidate. If you’re truly dedicated to earning yourself a world class education while preparing yourself to take in the world with perspective."

The student was confused, but hopeful. They weren't expecting to get any aid from the school, so hearing that $15k offer, as well as the inference of acceptance, had the student over the moon.

You could see the corners of their lips rise, as a poorly suppressed smile, with their eyes filled with a new optimism. You were loving the power you felt. "You’re an intriguing prospect, and I like what you have to offer. Unfortunately, your application came in too late, and there aren't any more spots in the boys dorms. But as I said, I like you, and I believe you deserve to go to this school, so I'm going to bend the rules just for you. I'm going to give you a room in the girls' dorms, and change your application so that you’re applying as a pre operation transgender woman. Welcome to the school, and congratulations on your new scholarship and womanhood."
