Chapter 3 by Dominosaur Dominosaur

Should I?

Hell no, Fight it!

This thing is half my normal size, and if its basic attack can't scratch my heavy armor, I have nothing to fear... yet, anyway. Until this thing shows me something scary, I'm not going to run from some catboy. I square up and watch it watch me...We're at a stand off, but I feel like I have the advantage. I don't need to rush in. Before we go further, I shrink my swords to more usable sizes, considering intimidation likely isn't going to work.

Taking my shrinking as the cue, it starts to rush me. My perception is so heightened right now, I can see the shift in its thighs and shoulders before it even starts dashing, and prepare accordingly. It almost moves in slow motion, before suddenly it jumps forward 4 feet, then 12, then right into my face. unfortunately for it, my body has one more surprise. Like an airbag made of spears, spikes burst from my torso, turning the space in front of me into a punji pit, one which the creature all too foolishly ran into. Its skin is almost fully unprotected, and if its reflexes were even a millisecond slower, it would have impaled itself on my counter attack. Instead, it jumps back with a screech that almost makes me feel bad for it... It stands to look at me, its fur mat with its own blood. I don't pursue...since I don't need to. In a few seconds it checks itself and starts writhing in pain. Learning from previous encounters I pre-emptively coated my spikes with venoms that Ella had... 'shown' me, on the worst day of training we've had. As it spasms and cries out, I move up to finish the fight, when suddenly, I feel that spike of power again... Its eyes are wide as it looks up at me, and I notice its Golden irises turn to a clear

Silver
