Hell Hath No Fury Like A Woman Scorned
"That fucking bitch. I can't believe she'd say something like that. Actually, yes I can. But still!" The first thing that Mary did when she got outside was call her husband, hoping that he'd calm her down.
"It sounds like it was more her friend who did this." Mary sighed and sat down on a bench.
"I know. But Tina is still the source." She got a ping on her phone and saw it was from her dad.
"I have to go. I'm putting an end to this right now."
"Don't do anything drastic. I love you." Despite everything, Mary couldn't help but smile at those three words.
"I love you too." She stood up and marched back into the office.
...
Mary's entire floor was cramed into a conference room, along with some higher ups. Many of them were scared, as the CEO was just standing there, scowling.
But when the doors flew open, they were terrified. Mary was no longer storming around, but was instead calm. This made her even more terrifying.
"It has come to my attention that a nasty rumor has been going around that my husband has been abusing me. Tina, would you like to tell everyone where that rumor came from." It wasn't a question, it was an order.
Tina sucked in a breath before stepping forward.
"I was drunk with my friends, and said it in jest. They took it and ran with it." There were a couple of whispers, but those stopped when Mary slammed her fist on the table.
"Those rumors stop today. My husband is the greatest man in the world, and I will NOT tolerate anyone sullying his name or ruining his career over this." Mary straightened up and walked in front of her father.
"If anyone continues the spread of these rumors, disciplinary actions will be taken." The threat was clear, especially to Tina.
"Dismissed." Everyone scurried out of the room, everyone but Mary, her father, Mr Thompson and Tina. Well, Tina tried, but her father stopped her.
"Mary, Tina, me and Gilbert have talked, and came to a decision," said Mary's father.
"Tina, due to your actions not just yesterday, but also your constant lack of discipline and work ethic, you are being reassigned in the department," said Mr Thompson.
"But Daddy-" Mr Thompson cut his daughter off.
"You will now work under Mary as her personal secretary-"
"WHAT!" yelled Mary.
"This is your last chance. If you continue like this, you will lose your entire trust fund, and be fired from the office." Tina stood there, her eyes wide and her mouth hanging open.
"I DON'T want HER as my secretary!" snapped Mary, but neither of the men were truly listening.
"This is the arrangement we agreed to. Now, we have some other work to do," said Mr Thompson. The man walked out the room. Mary's father sighed and turned to his daughter.
"Stay strong. You and Noah will get passed this, I promise." He walked out, leaving Tina to her fait.
"Mary I-"
"That's Mrs Vander to you." Mary stormed up to Tina, who backed up to the wall.
"You could have destroyed my husband's reputation, or gotten him arrested. So you better believe it when I tell you that I'm going to make your life hell." Tina tried to say something, but no words came out. Mary took a deep breath before saying anything more.
"Go get me a coffee before I strangle you." Tina nodded and ran out of the room.
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
