Head to their place the next morning.

The next morning, the four of you return to Steven and Gemma's house. The sun is shining, and you would never have known that a storm had hit last night if not for the countless branches that have been downed in the streets and the wetness of the grass in the front lawns of the neighborhood. The damage is apparent from the moment you arrive. A giant tree disappears halfway up the trunk into the house. Steven calls the insurers, but has difficulty getting through. They must not be the only ones who sustained damage during the wild night.

The local fire brigade eventually attends and checks to see everything is secure inside. After being given the go-ahead, Steven and Gemma head inside, reassured that the roof won't collapse on top of them. The interior of the house is ruined; it looks like a flood has made its way through the rooms, and the carpet squelches with moisture as you walk over it. Steven and Gemma grab their most valuable belongings and some clothes, as well as important papers and documents, and you all head back to your house.

Steven looks despondent, but the insurance will ultimately cover it all. The question is how long it will take for it all to be fixed. Rebecca suggests that the two of them live with you temporarily. After all, there's just the two of you in a very big house, and there are plenty of spare rooms. You don't think your wife has ever had a better idea in her entire life. You agree, but in private later that day you express some annoyance at having others live in your home, making her double down on the invitation even more, playing right into your hands.
