Head to an Indian Takeaway
You could order pizza, but pizza doesn’t appeal. You should try something different. On your walks you’d noticed an Indian restaurant, with a takeaway entrance to one side. You might as well try that.
You could order from the internet but decide instead to walk to the restaurant and order there. Saturday nights and the streets are busier than you expected. Cars driving past. Couples walking into town. There’s a queue at the entrance to the restaurant door. It must be popular. Thankfully the side door which leads to the takeaway section is free. The takeaway section, which allows you to look into the kitchens is empty.
You order a Chicken Jalfrezi, Garlic Naan and Pilau Rice. While they cook it you sit and scroll through your phone. There’s a small table with several local and national newspapers from the last week scattered across it, but none of them appeal.
The food is handed over quickly and you head back home. There’s still a queue outside the restaurant.
Back home, you dish it up and eat it in front of the TV. Actually, not bad. It’s not until you went to university and lived in a city that you acquired a taste for Indian, the student staple. As an undergraduate, you’d have an Indian every few weeks, and you’d started to appreciate the spices. This is comparable to the better Indians you’d tried back then. It’s an experience you’re going to have to repeat.
