Head inside.

He closes the door behind you and you peer inside the place you have been a bunch of times before. It looks smaller than your place, but in reality, it's just much more of a mess.

"Come on, come on," he says as he leads you into the living room.

The two of you slump down onto his sofa. Given his height, his feet don't touch the ground. He also doesn't seem to care. Paulo brings his feet up to lay back against the armrest, bringing his hands behind his head as he relaxes with a grunt and a sigh.

"So, how're things, eh?" he asks.

"Not bad," you say as you lean back. The feeling in your pants begins to fade. "Just needed a day where I hang with my friend, you know?"

"I do! Make yourself at home. Let's just watch some movies and have a guy's day."

And both of you do. The two of you spend hours laughing, conversing, watching movies, eating, and generally enjoying each other's company. You're relieved to have an uneventful time for once. Through all this chaos, you forgot how great of a buddy Paulo is. This curse is making it hard not to ruin your social life. It passes the evening when the two of you finally decide to bring things to a close. The sun is already setting and Paulo says he has to work in the morning.

"Before you go," Paulo says. "I want you to have something. A gift. Ah, don't give me that look. You're making me feel embarrassed. It's a gift! For being a good pal."

He opens his bulky hand to reveal a diamond-shaped stone with a red gem in the center. By the looks of things, it appears to be of dwarven craft. You aren't sure what it is, but it looks valuable, and actually quite pretty--maybe for a necklace or something. You take it after a pause.

"What is it?"

"It's an old dwarven idol that belonged to my grandpa. Apparently it scares off demons. I haven't seen a demon, so maybe it works, and maybe it doesn't! But it's one of a kind."

"Wow. Thanks, Paulo. That's actually really kind of you. I'll keep it with me at all times. You know, in case of demons."

He laughs, and you join him. The two of you finally depart.

You hop into your car and take a different road home, just in case, and finally arrive back at your apartment.
