By the morning, Nat could barely stand, let alone surf that day. Still, she was very enthusiastic about the group returning to Hawaii soon. Or, she suggested she could visit them on the mainland. Or she knew other cool surf destinations and would be happy to meet them there any time.

Everyone was sad to see her go, but there was no other choice. Unfortunately, this was the morning that they had to go back to the airport.

As they checked in, David had a quiet conversation with the airline staff and had their seats rearranged.

David guided her into the seat despite her protests, "no, you're fine." He sat beside her and looked across her to Sarah who smiled, understanding his plan immediately.

Megan was sitting in front of them and looked back through the gap made by the missing seat in front of Vicky. She also understood what David intended and observed, "we have a few minutes before we take off."
