Head for the shelter

Peggy knew that following the other guests to a shelter was the only sensible thing to do, she had no intention of being blown to bits in her underwear. So she waited until she was pretty confident the rest of the people had gone past, then she nervously stepped into the corridor. As her feet touched the plush carpet she remembered she had no shoes on, but the sirens were still wailing and she had already delayed.

Peggy reached the stairwell and started to descend, hoping that no one else would be around to see her state of undress, and that once she reached the hotel's shelter she could borrow a coat or something, or maybe even find Private Lorraine.

She had reached the landing above the ground floor when she heard the sound of many people milling about, and then one voice calling over them,

"False alarm, ladies and gentlemen, false alarm!"

Peggy grunted, then turned and hurried back up the stairs, hoping to make it back to her third-floor room before anyone saw her.

She was halfway up when she realised that as her bra and panties had no pockets, she did not have her room key.
