The hospital? The theatre?
Head for the hospital
The theatre is a good idea, but it's too far away and you need as much time as possible to find a face and establish an alibi. You get up, your chest heaving as you gasp for air as a result of your sprinting, you need an excuse to get attention in the hospital. Looking around the alley you're currently in, there's nothing around on the floor or any of the container, but you notice a small window next to a door leading into the back of the store right in front of you. You grit your teeth as you walk up to it, looking out at the street to make sure nobody's around. You shut your eyes and look away as your fist slams against the window, shattering it into a million pieces and rather loudly, but what did you expect. The pain stings like mad and when you open your eyes, blood trickles down your fingers, small shards of glass protruding from your knuckles. You hold your wrist and squeeze, biting your lip from the pain.
The hospital is just up ahead, you quickly pick up the pace from a moderate walk to a brisk glide, pushing open the door with your shoulder, you run up to the front desk, trying not to get blood all over it.
Gasping in pain, the secretary looks at you, then to your hand, then back to you. She gets up and without saying a word, walks off briskly down the corridor nearby, yelling for another nurse. You smile and walk to a nearby chair, sitting down in it. A few seconds later, the secretary returns with another lady, she's rather young, slightly older than you. Judging by the look on her face when she sees your condition, she's probably a trainee. She's brought along a large sterilized tissue, ushering you up, the two of you proceed to a room nearby. The secretary however, returns to her desk, soon to be greeted by another ailed individual.
"So, what happened?" The nurse says as she cleans your hand.
"Uhm, I was at home fixing my window. Y'know, the do-it-yourself kind of thing." You lie, it's not the best cover story, but your hand's on fire.
"I see, well it'll be alright, we'll get'cha patched up quickly." She says with a smile.
You return it warmly, she's a pretty woman. Lengthy black hair tied up, she's wearing the hospital's blue uniform. A cross with the pharmaceutical symbol behind it is emblazoned across her breast along with the hospital's name underneath it. "St. Joseph Hospital"
"Alright sweetheart, we're gonna' have to disinfect it now." She places a bowl at your side, producing a bottle of peroxide.
"Oh dear." You mumble, she giggles at your dismay.
"It'll be all over soon, don't worry." You hear the cork of the bottle unscrew, and she nears you.
She grips your wrist gently and guides it over the bowl, tipping the bottle, she pours the chemical over your wound. You jerk your hand instinctively, yelping in pain. A mixture of crimson and white settles in the bowl. You sigh in relief, the pain starts to subside, but your hand is sore. The clanging of a metal tray rings in your ears. The nurse approaches you with a tray bearing a pair of both large and small tweezers, settling them by your side. Picking up the large pair, she takes your hand and looks you in the eye.
"I'm going to remove the glass now, please stay as still as possible, alright?" She says.
"Alright, alright, let's get it over with.." You reply, already irritated.
Quickly, the nurse plucks the shards of glass from your hand and you're surprised at how fast it ended. Luckily for you, most of the glass pieces were large and easy to remove, so she didn't have a hard time. Cleaning up the resulting bleeding, she bandages your hand, tying it very tightly with the knot on the back of your hand.
"There we go." She says, dusting off her hands as she finishes.
You look to the door, it's unlocked still. Hopping off the table prematurely as she walks to a nearby cabinet to put away her supplies. You make sure the door is properly shut and lock it, then turning around, brandishing the black pen from your pocket. The nurse is reaching up into the open cabinet, putting back the bottle of peroxide.
"I'm sorry." You whisper, pressing the button.
A few moments later you're tying your hair back, looking down at the body of a pale, blonde girl who you just attended. She's passed out, and you're about to make that known. Opening the door, you run to a nearby doctor and grab his shoulder, a look of urgency clearly across your face.
"Doctor, my patient's passed out, I think she lost too much blood before getting here!" You say.
"Alright alright! Where is she?" The doctor says.
"I'll lead you, this way!" You say, turning around and heading back.
A few moments later, Gabrielle groans as she rouses, her white bandages spotted with a circle of blood, you stand to the doctor's side as he examines her.
"She seems alright, must've been the shock." He says, putting away his stethoscope.
"Thank God, for a moment there, I thought I was about to get fired."You joke.
The doctor snickers and shakes his head, "Not at all, just make sure she gets out alright."
"Thanks." You say as he leaves, shutting the door behind him.
You explain to a confused Gabrielle her predicament, sending her on her way, albeit sadly. You knew you were going to miss Gabrielle, but there's no time for sentiment, you need to look and be inconspicuous. Walking out into the hallway with Gabrielle, you almost freeze when you see your mother walk through the door. No, you're not going to make the same mistake twice. She spots Gabrielle and promptly walks up to you.
"Excuse me, love, I'm here for her, I hope she's alright." Your mother says.
"What? Who are you..?" Gabrielle frowns, looking at your mother, confused.
"Do you know this lady, Gabrielle?" You ask, looking at Gabrielle's clearly bewildered expression.
"No, I don't. I've never seen her in my life." She mutters.
"Don't be silly, of course you have. I'm here to take you back home." Your mother seems irritated now, you can hear it faintly in her well decorated tone.
"I'm sorry ma'am, but we're afraid we can't sign out any patients without any form of verification." You say.
Your mother looks at you and frowns, then she sighs.
"Alright, fine. I'll call her father then." Your mother says, flipping out her phone. It's not the one she usually uses.
"You'll have to excuse me, I need to get back. Let the secretary help you, okay?" You say, smiling.
"Sure." She says complacently, looking away.
You turn from them and grin, walking down the corridor to the back where you're out of sight. You need to figure out a way to get out of here, you're tired of running and deserve a break at least. Suddenly, your thoughts are interrupted as a senior looking doctor bumps into you on the way down the corridor.
"Oh, I'm sorry Natasha, didn't see you there." The Doctor says with a rather smug expression.
You look up at him confused, judging by his tones, he knows you and is expecting a reaction. Shit, you forgot to use the brown and blue functions in your haste to settle things. You've got no idea who anybody in this building is. Your best bet is to supply him with a flexible reply.
"Of course you didn't, Doctor. I was in the middle of the road." You say, having been hugging the wall the entire time.
He snaps you a look and smiles, leaning in suddenly, he whispers into your ear.
"How about you meet me in my office in 5?"
"Uhm.. I don't know. I'm kinda' busy." You say, trying to find excuses.
"No you're not." He says, smiling, he turns and walks past you down the hallway to the secretary.
You need to blue zap and fast, don't want another situation like that. Heading to the women's washroom, you enter a stall and close the door, pulling out the pen your mother had, it seems to be a combination of all the others. Perhaps the colour coded buttons serve to represent their functions. Aiming at your hand, you hit the blue button and just as planned, your skin's memories come flooding in.
Natasha Bellgrave, aged 26.
You absorb the information quickly, it's nothing new, but then you're amused by one little piece.
The doctor that bumped into you in the hallway is your "secret lover". He and you regularly have affairs in his office made possible by his position in the hospital, as far as memories go, you think nobody else knows about it. His invitation was probably just a booty call. However, you find yourself aroused at the thought, remembering several heated moments shared with him whilst at work. You chuckle and leave the bathroom after freshening up. Making your way to his office, his name is Dr.Jack Fields, as is evident by his named painted across the frosted glass panel in his office door. Opening the door, you step inside and shut it behind you, locking it almost habitually. He's leaning back in his chair, at his desk, having a drink.
"So, what did you want to see me about Jack?" You say, slowly advancing as you pull your shirt up and off, revealing your black lacy bra underneath.
He stares for a moment, and then grins in his smug manner. "I wanted to see you about that thing you did the other day."
"Oh?", you reply, dropping your shirt on the floor, you walk around the side of the desk slowly as he turns towards you. You climb up onto his rather large frame and straddle his lap, reaching behind your back, you unclip your bra. Shrugging the straps off, you allow him to gaze at your rather firm breasts, topped with nice brown nipples. "What did I do the other day?"
"Nothing, nothing at all." He puts his cup down on his desk.
You smile, fishing the pen out from your pants pocket, leaning in subtly, you kiss him on the lips and jam the pen into his chest, pressing the first button, the black one.
"Time to get out of here." You smile.
