Head for Melissa's apartment

Now that the bicycle had been recovered and there was no sign of the suspect, Katja decided that the next step was to determine why it had been taken. Was Cadet Melissa O'Neal reckless with police property? Selling it on the streets? Or had it been stolen from her? If so, was she okay?

Katja placed another phone call to the police dispatch, this time asking another cadet, Stephanie deBoer, to access personnel records. Katja learned that Melissa was working on three-day shifts, the last ending on Saturday, so that she had days off yesterday, today and tomorrow (this was the opposite schedule of Katja and Stephanie, who were in the second day of their three-day shift). Katja decided that it would be unusual for a cadet like Melissa to expect to hold onto the police bicycle over her break, as other officers would need it in the interim. Katja then asked Stephanie to locate Melissa's address, and discovered that she lived in an apartment a few blocks away.

Having retrieved the bicycle, Katja was **** to abandon it again, but she wouldn't be able to transport it in her little Jetta. The blonde gripped the handlebars and swung a leg over the frame, sitting on the little seat. She checked her skirt, and decided that while unladylike, she was unlikely to provide anything more than the occasional flash of her panties to bystanders. The police cadet was happy she decided to wear underwear today as she pushed off and cycled through the ghetto for Missy's home.

Which direction does the blonde travel: through the alleys, down Washington further into the ghetto, on Madison through the tourist area, or along the beach?
