Chapter 3
by 24ward
Which direction does she travel?
Into the ghetto
Although she was a suburban girl and not yet completely familiar with the city, Katja reckoned that the most direct route to Missy's apartment was a few blocks along Washington. The blonde set off on the recovered police bicycle, making good progress up a slight incline as her toned legs pushed against the pedals. However, as the incline increased to an actual hill, Katja was dismayed to notice that the neighborhood had quickly degenerated into a ghetto. Noticing a couple of young black men admiring her from the sidewalk, the police cadet tried to keep moving past them, hoping that she was heading in the right direction.
"Hey white girl, where you going?" one of them called to her. "Yo bike sure looks familiar!"
Katja's eyes widened and she rolled to a quick stop as she considered his words. If they recognize Missy's bike, maybe those black guys know where she is! On the other hand, the way that they were looking at her made her uncomfortable, like they would say anything to get ahold of her. On the other other hand, she was a police officer, and might be able to learn something useful from what were clearly criminals.
Just then, an SUV with tinted windows slowly approached her from behind on the street side as the two young blacks hustled over to her from behind on the sidewalk side. She heard someone say, "Yeah, we fuckin' got her now!", but she couldn't hear who... Now she wondered if she should have kept moving and tried to get out of this dangerous place...
