Head downstairs to breakfast

You see your little sister sitting at the table and your mother just about to leave for work.

"Good morning sweetie," your mother says as she notices you enter the kitchen. Alice just looks at you briefly and says nothing before returning to her food. You say good morning to your mom and sit down to eat breakfast.

Your mother continues packing her bag as she ask, "So Alice, are you excited for your first day of high school here? What about you Alex?"

Alice answers first. "I'm excited. I think I'll be able to actually make friends here. I mean, I had friends before, but not like close friends. Ones that you can really connect and talk to."

Alice's answer surprises you, shown by how your eyebrows raise. She had close friends in the city, at least you thought she had.

"Um... I guess I'm excited too," you reply. "Still afraid of being late since I never got to actually see the school."

"Oh that's right," your mother says while turning to look at you. "I meant to let you take a look around earlier, but I guess I forgot with the move and all. If you want, I could take you in early and let you look around first." Your mother actually works as a school counselor. She used to work at a different school than yours back in the city, but now the two of you will be attending the same one.

"Yeah actually that would be nice," you say. Your sister then pitches in again.

"Could you let me in too? I haven't seen it either so..."

"Sure Alice, I'm sure it'll be fine if I let you two in early." Your mother looks at the time on her phone. "I'll be waiting in the entryway, try to hurry a little." You finish your breakfast and leave your dishes in the sink. Since your older sister works online from home while everyone else leaves for school or work, she's in charge of morning chores on the weekdays. You finish getting ready in under ten minuets. With your bag packed and teeth brushed, you go to the entryway where you mother is waiting. Your sister enters only a couple of seconds after you.

"Ready?" your mother ask. You both say yes and the three of you begin the walk to the gates.
