He tries to delay the inevitable.

Sean just gaped at the screen of his phone. The timer was already down to less than eight minutes. He did what any rational person would do, and went to the bathroom to panic.

Once the door to the private room was shut and locked, Sean set his phone on the counter and splashed some water on his face. It was a refreshing way to wake himself up some more so he could think clearly, but checking his phone showed that he had less than seven minutes now. As he paced the room trying not to change his coworker, Sean ran through the different options. Obviously he didn't want to change his Emily's birthplace, but he didn't seem to have a choice. He could make it something more local to where she was originally from, like Scotland or Wales. As he thought about it, though...that temptation rose up in him again. The temptation only the immense power of a reality altering app can give a person. Temptation to see how different he could make someone. Emily always seemed to talk about England as though it was so dreary and boring. Raining all the time and with fog covering everything. She'd come to the University of Minnesota during college and decided to stay after graduation three years ago. Sean could make her from anywhere. Perhaps even from Minnesota.

A wild thought entered his mind and he checked the timer to see how much time he had left. Five minutes. Just enough time if he was quick and didn't panic.

He checked the mirror to ensure he didn't look too much like he was coming back from some sort of crisis. As he sat down at his desk, he waited a moment and asked, without turning around, "Hey Emi? If you could be from anywhere in the world besides the UK...where would it be?"

The tapping and clacking of his Asian co-worker's keyboard stopped for a moment. A look over his shoulder showed Sean that she was looking up in thought, as his question hit her brain. He could see her dark, straight hair bob as she tilted her head to the left and right. After longer than he would have liked, Emily said, "Probably somewhere in Florida or California near the beach." Her keys started tapping as Sean realized that might not be specific enough. As he looked down at the timer and saw that there was less than three minutes left he quickly pulled up his browser and looked at all the places in Florida or California she could be from...thinking that at least Emily would have been able to pick her own new birthplace.
