He meets her at the Drive-In Theater.

On the edge of town there was Wittledays Drive-In Movie Theater.

Back in the old days, there was a well-lit corner of the property that had a playground for kids that could be trusted to play unescorted while their parents watched their movie.

After the town became an infantilist colony, the playground was torn down and remodeled from the ground up. Instead of a ground made from rocks and weeds, a layer of foot-friendly fake grass was lain down. The rusty merry-go round and monkey bars were replaced with a plastic playsets. Next to the playground itself was a patch of grass separated by a white picket-fence, plastic tulips and wood cutouts of rabbits that brought to mind Easter Sunday. At the very end of this patch of land was a white screen. It was smaller than the various screens scattered throughout the drive-in, but it was still bigger than any television.

This was the Daycare Corner. It was a picnic area for babies of every age to watch a movie.

It was Friday, so the Daycare Corner was full of people. Some of them were wandering around, going to and coming from the playground. Some where just sitting on picnic blankets talking or playing amongst themselves. A few sat in size-equivalent strollers, stacked next to one another like seats in an indoor theater.

Jim didn't see Marie in the crowd until she stood up and tackled him in a hug.

"Hey, you came!"

Feeling her head tucked against his neck and her arms wrapped around him in a hug, Jim's whole body tensed. It was after she stopped hugging him did she get a good look at her. She wore a full-body onsie that left only her head and hands exposed. It was bright blue with a zipper that led from her neck to the nape of her diaper. It had a hood, but it was down, and while Jim could tell that it had animal ears, he wasn't certain what kind of animal it was supposed to be.
