Chapter 52 by robyna robyna

Anything else before home?

He hitchhikes home

Mrs. Adams might have been flirting with him but she didn't seem interested in going out of her way to get him home. Of course Tanya couldn't be bothered either, so Matt headed back to PV. Drive North and hitchhiked the rest of the way home.

Unsurprisingly, no one was home... Karen sent him a text saying she was out riding with Amy and his parents wouldn't be home for hours. Which meant he could scrounge for something to eat, do pushups, and get started on his homework.

{if Cindy>10}He had the idea that he could have done something better with Cindi, that she'd been expecting something from him and he hadn't delivered so he called her.

"Yeah Matt. I'm sort of busy."

"I was wondering if you wanted to study together."

"Can't do it tonight. I'm going skating."

"I like to skate."

"Yeah? Well, maybe you should ask me sometime. Gotta go."

Hum, he wasn't sure but that definitely sounded like an invitation to invite her on a date.{endif}

{if Wendy>34}Matt had been on a couple of dates back at Aaron Burr but they'd never really amounted to anything. For one thing, he'd generally been too afraid to actually ask girls out and so nobody had ever been completely clear on whether they were going on dates or just hanging together. At least in L.A., though, he could use the bus to pick up girls and take them places... assuming he had the buck fifty for the fare. He had his phone out to call Wendy when he realized even if she agreed to go on a date, he had no way to pick her up.

"Hello."

Oh, shit. He hadn't realized he'd actually called her.

"Hi Wendy, it's Matt."

"Yeah, I saw your name on my phone."

"I, all right, this is going to sound really stupid. I called because I wanted to know if you'd like to go out somewhere and then I realized I don't have a car so I couldn't take you anyway. I'm completely embarrassed. Anyway--"

"I could, you know, drive."

"Huh?"

"I can't stay out late because it's a school night but we could maybe get a Coke or something."

"Cool. That would be great." He rattled off his address and they set a time.

"Are you asking me out on a date?"

"Uh, except I have no way to take you."

"I see. Okay, well, maybe we could go out sometime. Why don't you talk to me at the dance tomorrow."

"Yeah, good idea."

{else}He really could use some action but it seemed he was stuck. Well, who knew? Maybe Karen would bring home some friends again and he could perv on them.{endif}

How did he spend his evening?
