He gets spotted

Will had forgotten himself, being one of the few humans to be this close to stone giants. He took a step forward to get a better look and a branch snapped under his foot. More than one head turned his way and he know they spotted him.

Will ran as fast as he could but it was no use. The giants had a longer stride than him and soon he was in their grasp. They easily dragged him back to the clearing where he was sure they were going to rip his arms off for the enjoyment of the others.

He was brought before the leader. He hung by his arm as strands of his hair danced around his face, having gotten free from his ponytail. He waited for her to attack but she never did.

“Human, what do they call you?” she asked.

Her voice rang his ears with each word.

“Uh...Will,” he said.

“Why are you spying on us, Uh'Will?”

“I wasn't spying on you. I'm traveling,” he said trying to explain.

The giant points to the spot he had been standing.

“That didn't look like traveling, Uh'Will,” she said sternly.

“You guys were in the way! You shouldn't be here!” Will yelled, filled with fear.

He winced, afraid that he had just sealed his own fate. Instead, he was lowered to the ground.

“You are correct, we should not be here and neither should you. The path ahead holds only danger and your frail body will not survive,” she said as if it was obvious.

“What do you mean?” he asked a bit offended.

“Along that way we have seen a wall of thorns. We have seen spiders. We have seen many things and they all lead to a terrible dragon,” she said grimly.
