He finally reads the manual, but has no memory of the previous night

Waking up, David found that he had once again fallen asleep on the sofa, this was becoming an unnerving habit Standing up he went to clean his teeth, as he boiled the kettle to prepare to make a fresh cup of coffee. It would take time surely, but already having a fuller head of hair, made him feel altogether so much better.

Returning his focus to cleaning his teeth, he finished and spat out the toothpaste, for a brief second he stared down at the white bubbly liquid in the sink, before licking his lips. Blinking in confusion he sighed. Whatever that was, meant nothing, although that same inner voice whispered, "Let us be honest, you weren't thinking that was toothpaste, were you?" unlike the last time had had no understanding of what the voice meant.

Exiting the Bathroom he grabbed the pot and poured his coffee in. Now with the main stuff done, he could do what he should have done before and read the manual. It's not that he was afraid or anything, but something told him he should learn all he can on the bike.
