He encounters a second year Faunus student.

As he left the bathroom, fairly certain that Weiss would have dealt with the Grimm in class by now, someone else exited the adjacent Ladies room. A Faunus girl with bunny ears, and long straight brown hair. "Oh, hello there!" she remarked, catching Jaune's eye. She had quite a sexy accent to her voice too.

"Oh, hi!" Jaune greeted, giving her a wave. "I'm Jaune Arc, nice to meet you!"

"Velvet Scarlatina, it's nice to meet you too!" she replied, blushing slightly. She wasn't quite sure what had gotten into her at this moment. She was normally more shy and reserved, but something about this stranger made her want to talk to him some more. "I haven't seen you around before. Are you new here?"

"Yes, this is my first year at Beacon," Jaune answered. "I'm guessing you're second or third year?"

"Second year," Velvet nodded, her extra set of ears drooping slightly as she did so. The motion drew Jaune's eyes to them, and she stiffened a bit, fully expecting him to mock her for them. Many students with discriminatory views towards the Faunus did.

"Those are cute," he remarked with a smile. "They look good on you."

She blushed furiously. "Um... Are you talking about my ears?" she asked him, not used to being outright complimented on them by anyone other than a particular teammate of hers.

"Yeah, I am. Why wouldn't I think so?" he inquired. "You don't think I'm a Faunus hater, do you?"

"Oh, it's just... You never know," she shook her head.

"Well, it was nice meeting you Velvet, but I should get going to class," Jaune started to say, turning to go.
