I shoot up like a rocket and fall out of bed onto the floor.

I look up and see a big muscular guy with sun kissed skin. He’s wearing a red and white varsity jacket and jeans. His hair is dark brown and he has a handsome face with a fair bit of stubble on him.

“I… I can explain!” I shout as I try to get up off the floor.

“Like, I get giving a warm welcome but this is a bit much dude.” He says scratching the back of his head.

“It’s not what you think. I have to be like this.”

“Have to… wait, no way man.” His eyes widen as he looks me up and down. Feeling his gaze on my body feels weird as I can’t cover myself. “Don’t tell me you signed up for the nudey program!”

“You know about that?”

“Dude everyone on campus and in town knows about it. I thought about signing up myself to be honest, like seriously half my tuition to strut my stuff. But I chickened out. You must have bigger balls then I do.” His eye’s glance down to my groin and he smirks. “Maybe even literally.”

I feel my face redden and I frown. I want to cover myself but I just cross my arms across my chest trying to regain my composure.

“Oh sorry man,” His expression changes, “This has got to be hard enough as it is. I’ll try to keep the jokes at your expense to a minimum.” He smiles and looks up at the corner of the ceiling. “I mean the situation isn’t the only thing hard right now.”

“I’ll give you a minute to take care of that.” He turns to leave but I call to stop him.

“Don’t bother, I can’t.”

“What do you mean?” He asks. I grab the pamphlet and open it to the right section and hand it to him. He takes a moment to read and gives a smile I think is supposed to be sympathetic.

“Jeez man they really got you by the balls with this.” I grimace at him cause I can’t tell if this is supposed to be another joke. “But hey,” He smiles nervously recognizing his mistake, “It’s okay, I don’t mind I’ll just stick around, and you can take care of yourself.” My eyes widen.

“Are you for real?” I ask.

“I mean, yeah man. You need help and I can’t just leave you hanging like that… I mean you’re not really hanging, your stiff but I…” He stops talking and closes his mouth awkwardly. “Sorry I make jokes when I’m nervous.” What was with this guy?

“You’re nervous? I’m the one standing here ass naked.” I almost laugh at the situation. Here I was naked as the day I was born and my roommate is the one acting like a nervous wreck.

“Yeah, but you know, at least you got a sweet bod to show off.” Again, he shuts his mouth in realization of what he said. “Not that I’m checking out your bod, it’s just I can’t help but notice is all. You work out? You seem like you work out. I work out a lot. Especially strength training. I like getting really big, how about you?”

There’s a moment of silence where neither one of us speaks. Next thing I know I’m laughing. I try to cover my mouth to stop but this guy is so unbelievable I can’t help myself. He’s just so awkward and I have to admit it’s a little cute.

“Yeah I work out, my names Jack Henderson”
