He catches her and she's nervous
The restroom door sealed shut behind the janitor with a solid, echoing thud that seemed far too final in the tiled quiet. Harold stood just inside the entrance, his thick body blocking the only exit, eyes fixed on the black lace panties dangling from the doorknob of the middle stall. The delicate fabric looked absurdly out of place against the scratched metal and institutional beige. He reached out with one broad, work-roughened hand and lifted them carefully, the silk still faintly warm from her skin, the crotch damp in a way that made his throat tighten.
Inside the stall, Lena had been kneeling on the cool tile, skirt hiked up around her waist, waiting with her bare sex pressed close to the rough-edged hole in the partition. The sound of the outer door opening had sent a sharp thrill through her. She assumed it was Peter—finally—slipping in after making sure the coast was clear. Her voice came soft, low, and teasing, the way it always did when they played.
“About time, baby… I was starting to think you’d chickened out.”
Silence answered her. Then the slow scrape of a boot on linoleum that didn’t belong to the man she loved.
Her stomach dropped.
She froze, still on her knees, heart slamming against her ribs. That wasn’t Peter’s walk. The breathing outside the stall was heavier, wetter, coming from a chest that sounded congested. A faint, sour smell of old sweat and industrial cleaner drifted under the door.
“Peter?” she tried again, quieter this time, already knowing the answer.
Harold’s voice came rough and unhurried from the other side of the stall door. “Ain’t no Peter here, miss.”
Lena’s blood turned to ice. She scrambled upright, yanking her skirt down as far as it would go, thighs pressed tightly together. The black lace panties were still hanging outside—she could see the edge of them through the gap at the bottom of the door—and the hole in the wall suddenly felt like an accusation instead of a game. Her voice cracked when she spoke.
“Who—who are you? This is the women’s restroom. You need to leave.”
Harold didn’t move. He turned the panties over in his thick fingers, thumb stroking slowly along the damp crotch panel, feeling the delicate lace give under the pressure. The fabric was fine, expensive, still carrying the faint musk of her arousal. He brought them a little closer to his face without quite realizing he was doing it, inhaling once, then again.
“You’re the one who shouldn’t be in here,” he said, thinking fast. The words came out steady, almost reasonable. “Middle of the day. Fancy clothes. Panties hanging on the door like a signal. Hole in the wall that ain’t supposed to be there. You know what the university calls that? Indecent exposure. Public lewdness. Maybe even solicitation if they want to stretch it. Campus security takes that shit serious. One call and you’re explaining yourself to the dean instead of whatever you thought you were doing.”
Lena’s hands were shaking. She pressed her palms flat against the stall door as if she could push the entire situation away. “I—I was just… waiting for someone. My boyfriend. He’s a student. We weren’t going to—please, just leave. I’ll go. No one has to know.”
Harold’s thumb kept moving, circling the wet spot on the lace, pressing into the fabric until it molded to the shape of his fingertip. He could feel the residual heat of her, the evidence of how ready she had been only moments ago. The knowledge sat heavy and electric in his gut.
“Boyfriend, huh?” he said. “Funny way to meet a boyfriend. Leaving your underwear out like an invitation. You think the board’s gonna care about your boyfriend when they see the pictures security can pull from the hallway cameras? Old Wing’s got cameras on the stairs and the corridor. They’ll see you walk in. They’ll see me walk in after. They’ll see how long we stay. You want that on a record?”
Her breathing had gone shallow and fast. She could hear the soft, deliberate sound of fabric moving between his fingers and it made her skin crawl even as a traitorous pulse throbbed between her legs. “Please don’t. I’m sorry. I’ll leave right now. Just—just give me my panties and let me walk out. No one has to say anything.”
Harold didn’t hand them over. He kept them, turning them inside out so the damp lining faced him, rubbing the silk between thumb and forefinger the way someone might test the quality of cloth. “Maybe. Or maybe I decide it’s easier to report it. Cleaner. Less risk for me. You’re the one who set this up. You’re the one who looks guilty as hell.”
“I’m not— I didn’t mean for anyone else to—” Her voice broke. She was super nervous now, the words tumbling over each other. “Please. I’ll do whatever. Just don’t call anyone. My boyfriend will be here any minute. If he sees you—”
“Then he sees me,” Harold interrupted, still calm, still fingering the lace. The tip of his index finger pushed slowly into the crotch, stretching the wet fabric, exploring the shape of the evidence she had left behind. “And then he’s part of the problem too. Two people instead of one. You sure you want that?”
Lena’s forehead rested against the cool metal of the stall door. Her pulse hammered in her throat. Every instinct screamed to unlock the door and run, but the threat of cameras, of records, of everything unraveling kept her frozen. She could hear the soft, wet sound of his fingers working the panties—rubbing, pressing, circling the damp spot as if he were mapping her body without ever touching her.
“What do you want?” she whispered.
Harold didn’t answer right away. He just kept moving his fingers over the black lace, slow and deliberate, the fabric growing warmer under the heat of his hand while the restroom stayed silent except for the hum of the lights and the unsteady rhythm of her breathing on the other side of the door.
