He calls April

"Hey April, it's Matt."

"What's going on, Matt?"

"We talked about going out tonight."

"I think you talked about going out tonight. I was just listening."

"Yeah, but I was super-convincing, right?"

That got him a chuckle. "At least a little bit convincing."

"You don't have to work, do you?"

"Nah. Remember when I was taking another waitress's shift? She's paying me back tonight. Which is lucky because Thursday tends to be slow."

"There is just one thing."

"Oh, great. Let me guess. You're going to bring along Tanya. Because if you are, that's a show-stopper."

"It's more basic than that. I don't have a car... or a drivers' license."

"You're kidding. You're inviting me out on a date and you don't have a car? How are we supposed to go anywhere?"

"Well, if we were still in L.A., we'd take the bus. You've heard of public transportation, right. But since we're here, it seems to me we have three options. We could hitchhike which is pretty much how I get around, I could ask my mom to drive us, or you could drive. You do have a car, right?"

"Yeah. But... oh, what the hell. This whole situation is completely freakish anyway. Sure. Tell me where you live and I'll pick you up. Where am I taking you, by the way, or do I have to decide that, too?"

"There's a coffee shop in San Pedro with a guy doing classical guitar tonight at eight. Or we could do a movie."

"Classical guitar sounds different, at least. Sure. Text me your address and I'll pick you up about quarter after seven. That should give us time to get there and grab a coffee before the show."

"Thanks, April. I've been looking forward to going out with you."

"Yeah? Well, you waited long enough to ask me."

"Things have been hectic."

"Yeah, sure. See you at quarter past."
