He Uses An Item

(Author's note: Sorry for the delay in updates from me recently. I've been pretty busy over the past week. Hopefully I can get more stuff written now things have calmed down a little.)

The second your Mankey has emerged from its pokeball, the Team Rocket member kneels down next to his Rattata and produces a small syringe from the back pocket of his pants, before jabbing the needle into the mouse pokemon's side, the normal type letting out a small yelp as it's injected with whatever fluid is in the syringe.

"Hey! What are you doing?!" you call out, concerned for the Rattata's safety despite the disgust you feel towards its owner.

"I'm just using an item," the guy smirks. "Nothing in the rules against that, right?"

You guess he's technically right; you'd come across trainers on your journey to Mt. Moon who had used things like stat-boost items on their pokemon mid-battle; you figure this is pretty much like that. Well, whatever. Stat items hadn't been enough for any of those trainers to overcome the power of your team, and it wouldn't work for this asshole either.

"Mankey, use Karate Chop!" you command, wanting to end this battle as soon as possible so you could get away from this creep.

The fighting type charges towards the Rattata, but your opponent still has a smirk on his face, remaining completely calm. You realise he doesn't even seem to be calling for his pokemon to dodge the super-effective attack, and you suddenly feel slightly nervous; why is this guy so confident?

You soon find out, as Mankey swings its arm powerfully towards the Rattata, its attack connecting flush with the mouse pokemon's tiny body... only for the mouse pokemon to remain standing, as if unfazed by the attack. If anything, the chop seems to have just made it angry, as it snarls and hisses at your pig monkey pokemon in a manner very uncharacteristic of its usually timid species.

"What the fu-" you start to say, but your breath is stolen from you as the Team Rocket member clicks his fingers, and the Rattata transforms into a blur of movement, darting around the cave faster than your eye can follow it before colliding into your Mankey's body with a supercharged Quick Attack.

Mankey falls to the ground, knocked out in one hit.

"W-what?! Nooooo!" you wail, not understanding what the hell is happening.

The Team Rocket member fixes you with a grin. "You impressed?" He pulls out the syringe again, and you can now see it's half-full of some kind of strange pale-blue chemical. I'm so stupid, of course he wasn't going to play fair... this stuff must have done something to his Rattata...

"We call this stuff Rocket Fuel," the guy continues. "Pretty good name, huh? Boys in the lab cooked it up. Just a small amount of it can unlock a pokemon's true potential as a weapon. See, we at Team Rocket have a few tricks up our sleeve, and we ain't afraid to use them to get what we want. Speaking of what I want... you still planning on seeing this battle through, or can we just skip to the good part already?"

This isn't happening... this can't be happening! This guy cheated, there's no way this is allowed! But you're stuck alone with this guy in a cave, with no-one else in sight. It's not like you can let some Pokemon League official know that this guy cheated to beat you. Your pokemon aren't going to be able to stand up to this guy's ****-infused monster of a Rattata, and without them to protect you, you aren't going to be able to do anything to stop this guy having his way with you, even if his win isn't 'official' under Pokemon League rules.

There has to be some way I can get out of this...
