He Explores his Surroundings in the Fantasy World

I woke up calmly and fully rested in the fantasy world. I looked around and noticed I was in a small wooden room with one door and one window. Besides the twin bed I was laying down in, there was only a night stand in the room. I looked down at my body and confirmed I was still me. There were however slight differences, I appeared to be more tan and more in shape in this world. I also was wearing foreign garb. I welcomed these changes. I got up and looked outside the window. It looked like the building I was in was on the edge of a forest. The outside still looked like earth to me, that is until I started to focus more on the details of the forest. It seemed that 1/20 trees I could see had purple trunks and blue leaves. Additionally, what I first thought were birds turned out to be some kind of animal I’d never seen before. They kind of looked like flying raccoons. I definitely wasn’t in Kansas anymore.

I didn’t really know what to do next. It didn’t appear that I had any belongings other than what I was wearing. I checked my pockets to find 3 silver coins. I was about to exit through the door when suddenly a HUD (Heads Up Display) popped up in my view. The HUD reminded me of the ones you would see on mmorpgs back on earth. It turned out I could control the HUD with my mind and it was easy to navigate. The HUD had details about my stats, race, class, name, etc. The HUD told me my name was still Flynn Silverbush and that I was still a human. My class was “Mind Controller”. I clicked “Mind Controller” and a popup appeared.

“Congratulations, you have been granted the rare Mind Controller Class. Your level is currently one. Please choose one of the three abilities.

Female Only Control

• Choosing this special ability will automatically level you up to Level 5. The downside is, you will only be able to control females moving forward.

Potion Master level 1

• Choosing this ability will allow you to create potions that when consumed by other people, will cause different mind control effects depending on the potion. Leveling up this ability will allow you to create more powerful potions.

Touch Sense level 1

• Choosing this ability will allow you to read people’s thoughts when touching them. Leveling up this ability will grant more powerful mind control abilities when touching people.

Please note that these abilities may show up in the future when you level up your Class level again.”

I thought about my choice for a minute. Female Only Control sounded really good. Going up to level 5 immediately would probably help me immensely. however, only being able to control females was a huge downside. I was glad that even if I didn’t choose Touch Sense or Potion Master, they might show up in the future. Considering everything, I chose Female Only Control and automatically leveled up to Level 5. Another popup appeared and offered me three new abilities to choose from. All of the new abilities were level 4 abilities. I picked the one that sounded the best, “Slide Rule”.

Slide Rule Level 4 allowed me to view various attributes of people above their head. These attributes would be labeled and would be on a scale from 1 - 10. For example: if a person was extremely hungry, I would see the attribute “Hunger” above their head at level 10. Slide Rule Level 4 also allowed me to change these attributes for a brief amount of time. Each tick on the 1 - 10 scale would cost me different amount of points to change based on the person’s constitution level. I had 5 points to spend at this level and once spent the points would gradually be replenished. Leveling up Slide Rule would give me more points to spend and the changes to the scale would last for a longer time. Additionally, leveling up meant I would be able to see and change more distinct attributes.

I was sitting on the bed reading details about my Slide Rule Ability in my HUD when suddenly there was a knock on my door. Soon after the door opened and in came a plain looking girl who looked to be slightly younger than I was.
