He's surprised, but agrees to take in your brother

You wait for your husband to return, coming up with possible responses to this new development. You know that you and Robert could care financially for your brother and you are sure you could love and cherish him like your own, but the only connections he and Robert will have are you and your sons. At least, that's how it will be at first, if he agrees to take him in.

Part of you is afraid that he will turn away your blood and you'll spend years wondering about your brother, fretting if he's okay and loved. You wouldn't blame him if he did. You are trying for another baby and now you're being handed one that isn't his. And you will have to wait longer if you aren't already pregnant.

Then you wonder how the boys will react. While they seem eager to have a new sibling, you're sure that will change once a new baby is here. You don't want them to hate each other, though your brother must be too young to understand such a thing at the moment.

You've worked yourself into a tizzy when Robert gets home and it's obvious he's notice your strange behavior. Once again the two of you are alone and, once again, he comforts you as you begin to cry and explain today's events. He listens carefully, as he always done when you're upset, and does his best to help you with your new-found grief.

Once you are calm, he gets straight down to business. Well, almost. "What do you want to tackle first?" he asks, "Your brother and his living arrangements? Or your father and his funeral arrangements?"

"Brother first." you say automatically, having thought about that too, "They have to complete the autopsy first before we can handle his funeral. Better to handle the living before the dead."

He nods. "You want to take on your brother." he says, "You want to give him a chance to be with blood relatives."

You nod. "We're all he has Robert." you say, "And I'm scared what will happen to him if he's put into the system. Who knows where he'll end up or who he'll be put with. At least he'll be safe with us."

"You've put a lot of thought into this, haven't you?" Robert says, his question coming out more like a statement.

Again, you nod. "But I need you on board too." you say, "I don't want our family to become strained because I **** you to take on a baby that isn't yours."

Robert gives you an odd look. "Do you honestly believe I would refuse to take him in?" he asks, "He is your blood and your blood is my blood by law."

You smile sadly at him. "I didn't know what to expect."

"He's coming home with us." he says, voice firm, "I'll have Nico set up the nursery again."
