He's actually a gentleman

What was he gonna do? **** her? Try to touch her? Try to get someone to come here and embarrass her further?

Cardin sighed. "Here." He said as he removed his jacket and handed it to her. "I'm not sure what you're doing outside at night naked, but you really shouldn't be." Ruby simply stared at him in shock. This was definitely not one of the scenarios she'd imagined.

"Thanks..." she said as she took the jacket and put it on. It wasn't enough to completely cover her bottom half, but it was big enough to mostly cover her crotch. "Umm..."

"May I ask why you were out here?" he asked, staring at her with raised eyebrows. Ruby once again tried to think of am excuse.

"Um...I...got locked out by my sister?" she said not very convincingly. He stared at her, obviously not believing her. "By Blake?" Still staring. "Weiss?" He sighed.

"Alright, you don't have to tell me." Cardin said. "Let's just get you back before someone sees you." he said. Ruby nodded. She remembered Jaune was still out here, but his clothes were close by, so he should be fine.

Cardin began walking back towards the academy and Ruby followed close behind, hugging the jacket as close to her body as she could. Hopefully no one else was out.

They walked through the quiet, dark halls, an awkward silence between the two. He seemed to now be politely avoiding looking at her, which relieved her, but also made her feel...disappointed. She was reminded of how she felt when he stared at her. Why was it bothering her so much that he wasn't looking anymore?

Eventually, her thoughts trailed off, and the silence got bad enough for Ruby to give in to her social anxiety and break it.

"So, you're not gonna...tell anyone, are you?" she asked hesitantly. He stayed silent for a moment.

"No. Even if I did, I doubt anyone would believe me without proof, which I don't have." he answered. Ruby breathed a sigh if relief, and they continued up stairs and through halls. Ruby hadn't really been paying too much attention, more worried about people that might be around, so she wasn't actually sure where they were. Finally, Cardin stopped at a door and looked at her.

"Um, where are we?" she asked, and Cardin smiled.
