Chapter 6 by Icanhaznamepls Icanhaznamepls

does he agree to help?

He's a red blooded young 'hero', of course he does

He takes a moment, looks around the now almost empty inn, and smiles a little too eagerly..

"Of course babe! You'll be safe with me, trust me. Nothing's getting past my massive sword"

He smirks at his own joke and lifts the large piece of glinting iron for you to see, which looks even shinier close up - kind of ridiculously shiny actually - you have a sudden concern about whether or not he's every actually used it?

Nevertheless you smile, nod appreciatively, and try to look as greatful as possible.

"So what's your name? And anywhere more secure than this?" - he gestures round the large open main room you're in - "OH and got any food whilst we're here?"

Fuck. No-one's actually asked you your name before... You're kind of used to being addressed dismissively as 'girl', occasionally the even worse option 'wench', or more often just having patrons click their fingers and point.. But if you're going to be a convincing side-quest you probably need an actual name. And hey, what better way to mark this new-found resolve of yours than to pick a name for yourself! You think for a moment;

You can call me Ellie

"Niiiiiiiiiice. Like Princess Eleanor"

Damn

"She's a hottie like you man, I mean, I haven't met her or anything but I've seen the pictures, if you know what I mean.." - he leers at your tightly constrained cleavage even more unpleasantly, if that was possible - "actually you look kind of similar.."

As he continues to wax lyrical on the princesses various 'attributes' and how he would make best use of them. You feel like this choice has backfired a little, but to be fair you don't hear stories of many positive female role models tucked away in your backwater-middle-of-nowhere town all the time, and the Princess Regent is pretty universally acknowledged to be kicking-ass in the Hunters war in the north - or at least, so you've heard from the various merchants and travellers that pass through the inn.

"I'm telling you I wouldn't mind being in her personal guard someday, if I can get.."

You cut him off , grabbing a hunk of meat and a bottle of wine from behind the bar, waving it in his direction, and answering his questions.

We have food but we should be quick before the monsters start getting in - as for most secure the rooms upstairs are probably the furthest from the battle? Or the cellars are pretty extensive? But definitely less pleasant.. You're the warrior - what do you think would be best?

(you shudder a little thinking about the various deaths you've endured in the cold dark cellars in the past; mostly from monsters coming from the attack outside, but you're almost certain some of those things were down there already.. Eurgh..)

The dude stops his riffing on the qualities of her grace, seems to remember the massive battle happening outside, and makes a choice

So what's the plan?
