Chapter 8 by Control Freak Control Freak

What's next?

Have other women talk to her like a child

It doesn't take a genius to realize that Christina's frustration is in part due to being **** to look childish, and how people will start seeing her as a result. You could probably fix it (most easily by erasing the rules that you made to cause this situation in the first place), but you are feeling petty, not to mention frustrated yourself at having your girlfriend unloading her stress onto you while you're trying to have fun. So instead, you decide to write another rule.

OLD RULE: Non-petite women can't help but talk to and about petite women as if they were young children despite knowing logically that they are adults. They can try to suppress this behavior if it is pointed out to them, but even a successful attempt will only last as long as they actively focus on it.

Yet again, there doesn't appear to be any changes right off the bat. You try to see if Christina's mood has changed any, but from what you can see she still looks as pissed off as she was when you left the cafe. Thinking about it, you have no idea if the Rulebook would even consider this a valid 'rule' of society, but considering it didn't catch fire or start screaming in a forgotten tongue, you guess that at worst it would just do nothing.

It's not until you get to the bus stop that you notice anything odd. A blonde girl that looks to be about the same age as you was on her phone texting, and at first she doesn't seem to notice the two of you. As you wait however, she starts occasionally glancing over at Christina with a smile on her face, something that makes your girlfriend look uncomfortable.

"God, I hope the bus gets here soon," she whispers to you.

"You okay?" you ask her.

Christina sighs, "Just tired from adjusting to the new rules. Last thing I need is to deal with another woman today."

The way she said those last three words made it clear that your new rule somehow changed things so that you were no longer the source of her anger (finally). Before you can ask her for details however, you are interrupted by the blonde woman, who looks down at Christina and says in a way you can only describe as 'baby talk', "Aww, is someone having a bad day?"

Christina sighs at the sound of the girl's sickly sweet tone, then says to her, "Yes, which you are not helping with."

The blonde girl frowns, "Sweetie, I know you're angry, but that's no excuse to be rude. I just want to help."

"Then stop talking to me like that," Christina snaps, "I don't have the patience left for it today."

The woman blinks, apparently getting a moment of clarity as she says in a more normal tone of voice, "Oh, right. Sorry."

"Yeah, yeah," Christina grumbles, sitting down on the bus stop bench in frustration and popping the bottle of mocha into her mouth.

"Sorry about her," you say awkwardly, not entirely sure what the proper etiquette here was, "It's been a long day, and with all of the new rules..."

"Oh yeah, I heard about those," the woman replies, taking a quick look at Christina, "I'm guessing they haven't been easy on her."

"Or me," you say with a slight chuckle.

"Oh, I bet," she replies with a laugh, "It must be quite the change for you as well. Are you her brother, or..."

"Boyfriend," you clarify.

"Oh, well there goes my chances," she says with a pout, before smiling again, "Still, lucky you! You've got an absolutely adorable little girlfriend! How old is she?"

"Uh... 24?" you answer, a little perturbed by the sudden personal question. You glance at Christina and manage to catch her rolling her eyes.

"24!" she says, a look of disbelief on her face, "She's a big girl, isn't she?"

"Yup, that's me," Christina replies with a tone of resignation, tossing the now empty bottle into a nearby garbage can, "Old enough to drink **** right out of the baby bottle."

"Oh honey, don't pout like that!" the woman says, apparently already having forgotten Christina's request to talk to her like an adult, "I think you look cute drinking from a baba, and those pigtails look very pretty on you. I'm sure you'll grow to love both of them in no time!"

"Gee, thanks," Christina says sarcastically.

"No problem!" the girl says, "Now, do you need a change? It might help you feel less grumpy-wumpy."

"My boyfriend gave me one just before we got here," Christina replies in an acidic tone, "So no, I don't."

"Well good for him!" she says, before turning back to you, "But hey, if you need any help with her on the bus, I'd be more than happy to assist."

"Uh..." you stammer, not entirely sure how to react to that. Once again, things were getting out of hand with your new rule. At least this time Christina's anger was directed at someone other than you.

"Oh, look what's here," Christina says, standing up and latching onto your arm, She lowers her voice and whispers to you, "Finally. I was about ready to claw her eyes out."

"Sorry about that," you say as you get on the bus.

"Not your fault," Christina replies, causing you to feel a momentary twinge of guilt, "Would've been nice if you put your foot down with her a bit more, but I get how weird the whole thing with other women gets. Why do they have to talk down to us all the time?"

"Dunno," you lie.

Christina rubs her forehead as she sits down in an empty seat, "Yeah, I mean, I know they can't help it, but still, you'd think... oh great, don't look."

Being human, you of course look. The blonde girl is sitting across from you, and upon noticing you looking at her gives you a smile and a wave.

"God, she is crushing so hard on you," Christina says angrily.

"Relax, I'm not going anywhere," you tell her, wrapping an arm around her.

"Yeah, I know," she says with a smile, leaning into you, "Still, the diaper changes, the baby talk from other women, and now the weird rules... it can't be easy for you, dating a petite girl like me."

"True, but you're worth all of it," you tell her honestly.

At this, Christina beams and gives you a kiss, "You're lucky I'm willing to put up with cheesy lines like that from you. But thanks for saying it anyway."

"No problem," you answer. You're glad that you've finally managed to get back on Christina's good side, but now you can't help but wonder... what next?

With Christina no longer at your throat, you feel more comfortable making more new rules for petite women like her. Whether to have them make her life easier or harder, however, will depend on how guilty you are feeling about how your current changes have affected her.

Not to mention, looking over at the blonde girl again, you have to admit she does look pretty cute. While you have no intention of breaking up with Christina, perhaps you could give petite women a break and start making rules for blondes to follow. You're sure Christina would get a kick out of anything particularly embarrassing, as long as you made it a New Rule so that she (and blondie) can be aware of the changed rule.

You could also do nothing, and just see how the changes you've made so far affect Christina's (and your) life going forward.

What's your next move?
