Chapter 9 by reaper13 reaper13

What should they do with the prisoner?

Have her guide you to the lair.

“We should get her to guide us to her lair.” Liandra said.
“Are you mad?” Altime questioned. “I just said she’s dangerous.”
“In the battle, we lost our guide.” Liandra explained. “The green light is gone and I’m afraid playing a song now is going to attract other enemy’s.”
Altime looked away from Liandra. Obviously she was annoyed, but she also figured the princess was right.
“Fine, but none of the men interact with her.”

Altima was serious about it. She ordered all the men to keep their backs to her while she tied up the wyld fury. Then they waited until she became conscious again.
It took a while, but eventually the wyld fury made a groaning sound.
“Good, you’re awake.” Altima said.
The wyld fury tried to move and noticed she was tied up.
The fury didn’t waste a moment threatening them.
“You will not get away with this. My master will free me soon and then you’ll all be sorry.
Liandra was afraid of what she said. But Altima mocked her instead.
“Yeah yeah, whatever. How about you lead us to where your master is and then you can speed up our being sorry for what we did.”
The wyld fury laughed at her. “You actually want to face my master?”
“Yes, were are here to cleanse this place from his taint. Now bring us to him or we’ll …”
“Or what, you’ll kill me?”
“No, we’ll cut pieces off your body. First your fingers, then your toes, arms, legs, eyes, … I’ll keep you alive as long as I can and make you suffer as much as possible.”
Liandra’s stomach turned. She never figured Altima to be this cruel.
“Fine. There is no need to threaten me. I’ll bring you to him with pleasure. Then I will be able to see the same happen to you.”

Altima pulled the Wyld fury up and pushed her out in front of her. She had the men walk in front of them so they wouldn’t be able to see the fury. Not even by accident.
At some point Altima came close to Liandra and whispered “By the way, I didn’t mean what I said back there. Just a little trick I learned from Calcifer.”
“What trick?” Liandra asked her.
“Fear is a great motivator. Much better then greed or hope.”

After a long walk, night came creeping close. The group made up camp and prepared to go to sleep. The wyld fury was already tied to a tree, but somebody needed to keep an eye on her. Obviously this could be only done by Liandra or Altima. Rodrik already offered to go in Liandra’s place, but Altima was strongly against that idea.

Who does Liandra think should take first watch?
