Have Lunch Alone with Jess

Jess grabs me as soon as the bell sounds, she looks anxious but excited. “Let’s go have lunch together!” She says, packing her things.

“Like always?” I tease. “I’ll go find the others.”

“No, just us.” She insists, and I shrug. I grab my backpack and follow her to the music room. Jess has been playing piano since she was a kid and is amazing at it, she’s easily the music teacher’s pet. Sometimes we eat in the music room if we want to just hang out together.

We sit in the back corner of the classroom, on the floor like a picnic. We eat awkwardly in silence. The last two weeks we’ve only been talking about my move and nothing else, I guess it’s getting too close now. Too real.

I look down at Jess sitting next to me. She’s a little shorter than I am, curvier though. Her long blonde hair is tied up in a ponytail today with a red ribbon. She’s alwas rocked the schoolgirl look.
