Rather than study these newly acquired magical coins, which I knew would have been the smart/sane thing to do, I looked at a clock, saw I had five hours until the padawan arrived, and just decided not to. I have a lot of long days, and since it was looking like this might be the rare smooth sailing sort of afternoon, I felt like I had a date with Pawn of Prophecy. I slipped the coins into a pocket as I climbed the stairs into my apartment's living room and threw myself bodily onto my worn, comfy couch, let out a yawn, and began reading.

What I didn't know at the time was that the coins I had slipped into my pocket, while not containing any ancient fallen angels, were the kind that paid attention to what the person owning them said and did. Words and actions have larger meaning in the magical community, especially to the person doing it. I was purposely shirking my duties as a wizard to relax and enjoy myself, and I knew it. It was the kind of behavior I associated with teenagers, who in my experience are all too quick to take the easy way out and put off what needs to be done.

At that point in my life, the avatar of such actions had become my apprentice, the young Molly Carpenter. She was a good good who had made some bad choices, and I almost laughed to myself as I began the book, peering at the world map on the first page, that I was definitely making a Molly move. The coin, specifically the gold one, as I later found out, made some kind of psychic connection with its owner, and was activated whenever they did anything they consciously knew was outside of their usual behavior.

I'll be honest, I was really engrossed in my book. So engrossed, in fact, that I didn't notice as my body began to change. It was only after the fact that I realized my height was truncated, my masculinity turned into femininity, breasts grown, booty acquired, clothing altered, and sex changed. About two chapters in, I shifted a little in my seat as I began to feel like the book was getting a little dull, and felt the bouncing and jiggling of the boobs on my chest. Moving the book to get a better angle, I looked and saw, clad in a stylish t-shirt and a bra, I had my very own breasts just sitting there. Looking further down, the jeans I'd had on had become some sort of leggings. Or jeggings? I don't know. Regardless, there I was, laying on the couch and suddenly a woman.
