Chapter 52 by RandyLahey

What's next?

Happy Hour

You arrive at the place to find this huge trailer. It was at least 3 times the size of yours. You guess that's what you get when you're a movie star. Hopefully, one day, that would be you. All you had to do was to keep grinding, and you're sure you can get there. You noted that a lot of the cast and crew were there in the trailer. It was probably 30 people or so. Most of them you recognized as part of the crew from today's shoot.

You were a bit unsure of yourself in this crowd. Most of the people seemed to know each other, you guessed from other movies that they had previously done. You looked around for Rachel, but you couldn't see her anywhere. No sign of Elizabeth either. You decided you may as well try and make some friends with the crew, as you'd be working with them for the next while, and possibly on other movies in the future. You walked up to someone else who appeared to not know what they were doing there.

"Hi. I'm John," you say.

"Hey. I'm Taylor. Nice to meet you, man. It feels like everyone here knows each other. Huh?", he says.

"Nice to meet you too. It does seem like that. I've only filmed a couple of minor things back home, and all these people are new to me," you say.

"Well, this is like my fifth-or-so movie, but still getting to know everyone. Once you're in, you're in, but it takes a little while to get there. I'm still trying myself," Taylor said.

"That's too bad. I'm sure we'll get there eventually. What role do you have in the movie?", you ask.

"I'm a cameraman, or assistant cameraman. It's kind of a shitty job, but it pays the bills and you get access to a bunch of cool shit. How about you?", he said.

"I'm in the movie. I'm playing Captain Canuck. Small part, but hopefully, it'll help me get out there," you say.

"That's awesome! I'm sure you'll do great," he says.

The two of you continue to talk for a while and get to know each other. Taylor seems like a good guy and someone else just finding his way through the industry. The conversation finally lands on Rachel and some of the other actors.

"Speaking of which, where's Rachel?", you ask, surprised that you haven't seen her at all.

"She's probably in another room in sort of the inner party. Most of these top-notch celebs keep amongst themselves. She's one of the best at making us feel involved, and is really nice, but she's gonna be with her own friends. I'm sure she'll make an appearance later on," he said

"Oh, that's too bad," you say, disappointed that you weren't really going to talk to her.

"Yea it sucks, but it's the way she goes. I gotta go; I'm working on another film as well, and they're about to shoot. It was good to meet you," Taylor says.

"Yea great to meet you bud," you say. You think that maybe you should go and try and find Rachel, I mean, she came by your trailer and personally invited you, but she may do that for everyone. You were also a part of the cast, and you thought that might mean you should've been in the inner party. But you also didn't want to overstep and embarrass yourself.

Do you go to try and find Rachel?
